Chapter Five

672 Words
Annabella’s POV I left the pack hospital on my own, Luna Mary telling me that she would take care of Miss Patty and everything. I ran to the spot I go to when I need to be alone, my home. In this beautiful field, the rye grass has grown tall about to my waist. The way it blows in the wind is just mesmerizing. I was only a few hundred feet from my house when I heard the door open. I dropped. letting the grass hide me and held my breath. Before I could mind link anyone, I saw Blake and Anthony walk out. What the hell are they doing here? Why are they in my house? So many thoughts were going through my mind that I couldn’t even move. Thankfully, the wind was blowing at me, so they hadn’t picked up my scent. I could smell that delicious smell again. I think it’s spearmint and eucalyptus, but there was something else I couldn’t figure out. I was slowly backing away when I heard a grass crunching behind me, I quickly turned to see a wolf behind me. I gulped, knowing that I was probably about to be in trouble even though I was doing nothing wrong. His eyes were glazed over and I one hundred percent sure I know who he is talking too. My theory is correct when I hear the all mighty Blake call out. “Little omega, come out come out wherever you are” He chuckled, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes and stand straight up. I turned back around so I was facing him with a blank look at my face. “Future Alpha, Future Beta, Future Gamma I assume. What can I do for you three?” I put a polite smile on my face. Calculating the best time to mind link Benjamin, he doesn’t have his wolf yet, not until tomorrow but maybe he could save me. When I wasn’t corrected, I figured the wolf by me was Sam. One of Blake’s closest friends. He wasn’t ever rude to me or the other omegas, he simply didn’t associate with us. Anthony was a lot like his parents, very kind to us, but indifferent when he was around Blake. Which made him weak in my eyes. Sam’s wolf nudged me hard enough to push me forward, I almost fell but caught myself. When I stood back up, he did it again, then again after that. “Okay stop pushing me, I know what you are doing” I walked up to the future leaders of our pack. Blake was laughing and Anthony had a smile on his face. “So little omega, tell me. Did you and my mother figure out what is wrong with the useless kitchen manager?” I was taken back by his question. He wasn’t concerned about her at all, he just wanted to show that he is better than her, that she is useless. “Yes, actually. She has dementia, she’s not lazy or useless, she’s sick. She doesn’t do her job because she doesn’t REMEMBER she has a job. In fact, her memory is so far gone she thinks I am her daughter, Bella. Who died when she was FIVE. She thinks another omega, Benjamin, is her husband. While he was just an omega to you, he gave his life protecting the borders when a rogue managed to slip past a patrol. So yes, we did figure out what was wrong with her.” I couldn’t help the tears that were forming in my eyes, but I refuse to let them fall out. I will not cry in front of these “men”. Anthony looked between Blake and I, and I noticed Sam’s wolf came and stood next to me, so close I could feel his fur on my arm. It was softer than I imagined. Two more days and I would be able to meet my wolf. That is if I live through this exchange.
