Annabella’s POV
I have spent the past hour hiding out in my bed, cringing as I recall that walk back to the packhouse. Why did I tell him that? That is not anything I would have ever said to anybody. I remember just feeling… safe. He had been walking so close to me his body heat wrapped around me. The fact that his arms are so muscular they seemed to not fit into his long sleeve shirt. While his shirt wasn’t see through I could definitely tell the outlines of the muscles on his torso. I felt a pulse between my legs. Goddess Annabella, pull yourself together. I covered my face with my pillow and rolled over.
I must have fallen asleep, when I opened my eyes, it was dark outside, and I could hear snoring coming from the top bunk. I looked at the clock on the wall and realized it was after midnight. My stomach growled so I got up and headed to the kitchen to find something to eat. When I walked in, I wasn’t expecting to see Blake at the sink. I looked around and the kitchen was a mess. Food here and there, pots and pans were out, I saw a knife with what looked like to be blood on it. “What the hell happened?” I couldn’t help but ask. He whipped his head at me, I must have snuck up on him. “Uh, why are you awake little one? I heard you were sick.” I did tell everyone I wasn’t feeling good when I got back. I knew I would be left alone. I looked around again paying closer attention. It looked like all the ingredients for a chicken soup. Was he making soup for me?
It was then I smelled blood, I looked at him and noticed he was holding his hand under running water. He must have cut his hand with the knife. I walked over to the sink and opened the cabinet above it, grabbing a first aid kit. “Here let me help you.” I said turning off the water and grabbing his hand. I don’t know why but I wasn’t nervous. Usually I would be sweating bullets, but I felt happy to be touching him. He was quiet but let me lead him to the counter, “sit” I said motioning at one of the barstools.
When he sat down, I unwrapped the towel I had placed on his hand and hissed when I saw how deep the cut was. “How did you manage a cut like this?” I could feel his eyes on me as I opened the first aid kit, removing some gauze, sterile soap and a large roll of bandage. I looked up at him, waiting for his answer. “I was trying to cook a new recipe, and I all I can say is I highly don’t recommend reading and chopping at the same time.” I couldn’t help but chuckle at the picture that popped into my head. “I will take that advice to heart; I am just going to clean it up with this soap. I’ll put some gauze on it and wrap it, it should heal in about an hour I would say.”
I started humming while I cleaned his cut with soap, I don’t know exactly what I was humming, but it felt so familiar. I had turned away from Blake to grab some gauze when I heard him gasp, “what the f**k?” I looked back at him and that’s when I saw his hand was completely healed. “Okay so maybe I was off on my timing a bit. Guess you don’t need the gauze and bandage after all.” I said confused, it really shouldn’t have healed THAT fast. I noticed he was staring at me, and I couldn’t help but to stare back at him. After a minute he cleared his throat, and I looked away as fast as possible. I made myself busy by packing up the first aid kit. “So, what were you trying to make anyways?” I asked, eyeing the mess I was going to tackle next. I mentally groaned at the thought, but at this point might as well stay awake clean the mess then start on Benjamin’s birthday cake and breakfast at the same time. Today wouldn’t be as rough as yesterday at least. Cold bar with cereals, bagels, fruits etc.
“I, uh, well uh.” He started muttering, I watched him from the corner of my eye. He ran his hand through the top of his hair, his other hand wresting on his hip. With his arm flexed in that position I could see his muscles in full detail. I made myself look away and keep an even heartbeat. I have no idea why I keep acting like this. Does it have to do with what I just did with his hand? Was that even me? Probably not, he’s an alpha they always sheal a lot faster than us lowly omegas. “You don’t have to answer me, it was out of line to ask. I am sorry” I bowed my head before heading back to the sink to put the first aid kit away. I had just closed the cabinet door when I felt him behind me. His hands ran down each of my arms, softly pinning them to my sides. My breathing stopped, I could feel his breath on the back of my neck, warm and it smelled of spearmint and eucalyptus. Must be his breath I keep smelling, my thoughts were going a mile a minute.
After what seemed like a lifetime but was probably only a few seconds he carefully spun me around. My back was now pressed against the corner kitchen counter. His hands still pinning my arms to my side, his body towering over mine. I felt slightly exposed, but it felt good at the same time. Snap out of it Annabella. “Listen to me Annabella, you never have to apologize to me. You never need to apologize to someone simply because they are a higher-ranking wolf than you. You haven’t done anything wrong by asking a simple question.” I felt his hands tighten around my wrists while he spoke. “Huh?” Was all I managed to reply. This is not the Blake I have known most of my life.
