Chapter Three

1720 Words
Annabella’s POV “Hello there, little omega” he said to me while smiling so arrogantly. It took all my soul not to be rude and sarcastic. “Hello Blake, I am sorry to bother you, I just wanted to make sure that you didn’t need any laundry washed today.” I kept my eyes down. “Oh, I totally forgot, Annabella could you grab it from my bedroom while I finish brushing my teeth. I hate to ask but I am going to be late, and if I am late one more time, I think my father will literally banish me” he said, I heard a slight chuckle. I nodded and headed towards his bedroom. I used to clean the rooms, so I know my way around. When I entered his bedroom, I noticed a very good smell. I can’t figure out what exactly, but it smells good. I shook my head to clear my thoughts. Finding his hamper, I see a bra on top and roll my eyes. I pick it up and shuffle my way back to the outside hall to my cart. Before I could make it out the front door, I felt a hand on my elbow. I tried but couldn’t help flinch, I don’t really get touched all that often from higher ranking wolves, and when I do it’s not a good touch. “Sorry didn’t mean to scare you, here let me help with that.” He took the hamper from me and put it next to his parents’ laundry. I kept my eyes down but noticed he put the bra into the other basket. Maybe it was his mom’s bra, but I doubted it. “Thank you for helping, I appreciate it” My eyes focused on the wood floor. His hand came up to my face and brushed a piece of hair behind my ear. “Try not to work too hard, I know you cooked breakfast all on your own today. You need to not overdo it all the time.” I was so shocked I broke my own rule and looked up at him. He had sparkling chocolate brown eyes, and somehow, I knew I could get lost in them. I was so stunned I shook my head, grabbed my cart and left. The rest of the day went normally. I brought all five carts of laundry hampers to the basement and started all the washers. We had a washer and dryer for every room in the house. So really washing and drying didn’t take terribly long. I knew three hours had gone by since breakfast because Claire showed up. I put her to work once the driers were done, folding and hanging up the clothes. Once we got everything ready, I asked her to take Alpha’s cart while I took the fourth floor. Usually, I always take the alpha floor, so she looked confused but didn’t ask questions. Benjamin and Cassie also showed up ready to help deliver the clean laundry. With all of us doing it we finished in about an hour. We had the rest of the day to ourselves. Cassie must have caught me staring at Benjamin a little too much, because she insisted that her and Claire go check on Miss Patty at the pond. Benjamin looked at me and smiled a smile so sweet that it made me blush. “Want to take a walk, its nice outside” I smiled back and him and agreed. We made our way out of the back of the kitchen. Our pack had a walking trail through most of the land. If we wanted, we could walk for hours, I would walk for days if it meant alone time with Benjamin. It wasn’t a very long walk to the pond, maybe ten minutes. It felt like ten seconds though. “Annabella, I know this is going to sound out there but I have to say it. I think you are the most beautiful thing that the moon goddess has ever made, and I pray with all my might that you are my mate. Even if you aren’t I will gladly take you as a chosen mate.” He stopped me before we made it completely to the pond, however I could see Miss Patty. For the first time in probably forever I let myself fully gaze into his eyes. They were beautiful but didn’t give me the same spark as they did just this morning. I couldn’t help but think about a set of brown eyes. I quickly came back to reality and felt my cheeks warm with blush. “It doesn’t sound weird, because I have felt that for years Benjamin. I pray you are my mate as well.” He put his forehead against mine and I closed my eyes. Trying to enjoy this moment. Miss Patty was having a good day, which is rare anymore. There have been stories of wolves losing their mate and going feral. She doesn’t seem to be going feral, she just seems to be… off. I was deep in thought when she wrapped her arm around my shoulder. “Bella baby, isn’t your father just the absolute best man ever? I hope one day when you find your mate he is just as good as your daddy.” She smiled looking straight at Benjamin. He had his back towards us as he skipped rocks. I felt my heart skip a beat. Why does she think I am her daughter. I didn’t even know she had a daughter. I have known her my entire life and I can’t recall any children. I calmly reply, “me too” and hug her slightly. I get up from off the ground and when Benjamin turns to me I link him. “Something isn’t right. Will you please take her back to her room. She seems, I don’t know, lost. Just keep her safe please.” He nodded and headed in her direction as I ran back to the packhouse. I had linked Luna asking her if I could speak to her as soon as possible. She said I could come right up to their apartment. Something that made me extremely nervous, but I didn’t have enough time to worry about that. When I arrived that their door I knocked and none other than Blake answered. I immediately bowed my head, “Hello Blake, I am here to talk to your mother. She knows I am coming.” I slowly look up to his blank stare. He stepped to the side and let me in. “We are in the dining room sweetie” I hear Luna Mary yell. I started walking, quickly realizing that he was also following me. “Humor me, I am curious as to what the little omega thinks is so important.” I closed my eyes so I could roll them. There is the classic Blake, rude as f**k and even more arrogant. When we arrived, the Alpha was sitting at the head of their table working on his laptop. Luna Mary looked to be working in some sort of financial planner. “Sit down darling and rest your feet while we discuss what you want to talk about” Alpha Jacob said not looking up from his laptop. I sat fast, my hands balled into sweaty fists. “I am so sorry to bother you, but its about Miss Patty my kitchen manager, I think there is something wrong with her.” I tell them everything from her not even doing her job, to spending almost all her time at the pond and our conversation from just a few short minutes ago. “Before we go on, why hasn’t it been brought to our attention that she hasn’t been doing her duties?” Alpha Jacob had closed his laptop and was looking at me head on. I gulped. “I know I probably messed up by not doing so, and for that I apologize. It was ultimately my decision for none of us to tell you, I take full responsibility. Its just that we have a good handle on things, and I was nervous that something was going to happen to her.” I blinked back the tears in my eyes. Luna Mary patted my hand. “While I wish we knew about these things earlier, you are not in trouble. I never really thought to check because of how well things were working. So clearly there’s no need to change anything. However, I do agree I think there is something going on with Patty. Would you like to go with me and take her to the pack doctor. Sounds like she is very comfortable with you.” I nodded my head yes. Before anything could happen, Blake snorted. “Of course, the little omega is getting praised for being so f*****g dumb. You should have told us she wasn’t doing her job. We have been paying her for nothing.” “I will gladly repay her wages out of my own money. Like I said I take full responsibility.” I looked at him without fear. When I didn’t back down, he started chuckling. “There you go little omega. Finally starting to find your own footing.” He left without saying anything else. I started breathing fast, knowing what I just did is probably going to get me in a ton of trouble. I went to apologize when Luna Mary held her hand up. “Do NOT apologize for sticking up to my asshole of a son. I didn’t raise him to be this way and I don’t know where he picked it up. Trust me he is being dealt with.” She grabbed my hand and led me towards the door. I happened to look back and see the Alpha’s eyes glazed over, deep in a mind link. “Luna Mary, she said I was her daughter Bella. I have never seen her with any children. Does she have a daughter I don’t know about?” We had stepped onto the elevator when her expression changed. “She did have a daughter and her name was Bella. She died when she was five, she was laid to rest at that pond.”
