Drew and the dogs waited for me on the dock. I threw myself on my knees, and they took it as a sign to run to me. I buried my nose in Neptune’s fur as Greg yipped and bounced around us, unable to contain his enthusiasm. “Hi, babies, did you miss me?” I mumbled and scratched Neptune behind the ears. “They didn’t. They like their uncle Drew better now.” I glared at him and his wide s**t-eating grin. “They do not!” “You sure?” He waggled his eyebrows. Greg jumped onto my lap, wanting some of the attention I was showering on Neptune. When his slobbery tongue attacked my face, I snickered. “Seems like you were just proven a liar.” “Eh. They just don’t want you to be sad.” I shooed Greg off my lap, rose, and wiped the dog drool off my face with my T-shirt. “I should get going,” Drew said
