Chapter 12The ride was a fever dream. A stream of streetlights and cars and storefronts, until the familiar faded somewhere past Davis Square. “Shut your eyes.” The first words Badger had spoken to me since we’d parted after fooling around that past Sunday. I did as he asked, and he cupped a cold palm over my eyes lest I peek. We sped this way and that down streets whose names I clearly wasn’t meant to see. I felt us mount a hill, then we came to a stop that nearly pitched me from the handlebars. I hopped to the ground before a handsome house at the end of a cul-de-sac, an old three-story stone number with a mansard roof and tall windows, chimney and ivy and a wrought iron fence, all that stately jazz.
