AURELIA'S POINT OF VIEW My heart pounds against my chest as I watch in anticipation, my breath paused as I wait for the name about to drop from his lips. This moment would determine my life, my future, it would place me on the map here in Harvard, or it would completely floor me as I land on my ass, becoming a failure, my name taken off the top of the board. "Miss Cross, you have done incredibly well. You made sure to argue your point from a standpoint that any judge with the right reason would appreciate, and you won this round. A little bit of advice: Try not to look so stiff as you argue; it makes you look like a bad lawyer, and your confidence is also not as strong as it should be. I would expect more from Harvard's best, after all, you are the top student here, are you not?" Hesays, before he directs his gaze to the f*****g dean, the grey eyes of man cold and impenetrable as he looks at me, his face red from embarrassment, before he turns back to Levi-Mr Vale, gets up, buttons his suit jacket, and walks over to us, a fake, tight smile on his face.. "I would trust your judgement, Levi, after all, you are the best in this field." He turns to me then, the tension in the room as thick as ever, you could practically see it, feel it, smell it, as the hairs on the back of my neck rose up in nervousness. Matching his hard stare, I look him in the eye; the dean of my school, the cold hearted, calaulative, ivy league scholar, and the man who was literally about to become chief judge, if his nomination by the President goes through, the grey of his suit matching that of his eyes, his salt and pepper hair, everything about him screamed intimidation. However, I will not be moved. I have dealt with far worse people than a man with so much power in this school, who could stop my legal career from growing before it even starts. He smiles thinly, his hand stretching out for a handshake, stunning me. I expected him to berate me as well, I was, after all in the run to become the face of the school's legal department because of how brilliant I am. This could have gone very badly for me and his school. Valerie's stony expression, as her eyes light up with hate, as she stands off in a corner, her arms folded, does not faze me, as I meet his hand confidently, my grip almost as firm as his. One thing about Dean Blackstone, he loves a good challenge, and anyone who backs down from any one of his intimidating gestures, stares, or words would be in his black book. So I match his gaze square on, smiling as he says, "Good job, Cross. I expect more as time goes on." And he lets go of my hand, nods at Levi, and walks out of the large hall, his hands in his pockets. "Okay< If you are not a part of my damn glass, I expect you get the f**k out of here right now, before I count to ten" Levi-Professor Vale! Shit, I have to stop with the f*****g first name You had s*x once, it's okay! Instantly, they all disperse as they rush out of the hall, the once quiet hall now filled with the sound of their footsteps as they walk out the doors, leaving the actual students of this class alone with him. I move to get back to my seat but I am stopped by his voice, the same damn one that had me dropping my panties for him in the hotel room as he commanded me, his voice leaving no question, or siggestion that I had a choice, before he proceeded to-. Aurelia! I scold myself as I am brought back to order by my subconscious "Miss Cross, would you like to join us when you are done standing there like a fish out of the water?" He says, his voice harsh, cold, detached I smile tightly, my fake one on display for him as I say, "I'm sorry, sir, did you need something?" "Yes, you. You will stand here while I give the lecture on criminal law, as we discussed on murder. I expect the star student to be a model example for the students, after all, you did just win the first competition" He says, a secret smirk I feel like only I can see on his damn handsome face. The same day I decided to wear heels, my one-night stand/ my professor/my boss decides to make me stand for the duration of a three-hour lecture. Everything is just peachy! ---------------- After a grueling four hours!,I am left with sore, and what I am sure are swollen feet as Professor Vale rounds off his lecture, his last words being "I will hold another competition here, I want an assignment on any case in our criminal system, your paper must be detailed, it must hold commentary, and it must live up tpo my standards of what a damn good paper should be. Whoever wins will have an opportunity to accompany me to court on next week Thursday. I would tell you good luck, but I do not believe in luck" He says finally, making me sih in relief at the thought of finally sitting down after standin for so long. The hall clears up litttle by little, ans I walk on wobbly legs to my seat, eager to rest my aching feet. The second I sit, he speaks again "What are you doing, miss Cross?" Making a plate of pizza, you asshole "Resting my feet sir" I reply instead "You must not have read the email I sent" He says before walking out of the hall, his hands in his puckets What email? I quickly pull my phone out, and open my inbox, only to see a new email by the devil in disguise "You must all be at this venue before me today after your lecture. I do not care about fatigue, you must be ready to run on two hours of sleep at most if you want to work with me, if anyone is a minute or half a minute late, you are fired! Be there before three o clock" I look at the time Shit! It is currently thirty minutes to three And I do not have a car, all the busses, and trains are on a reak right now, and it is currently rush hour here in New Ypork! Am I going to get fired today?!
