CHAPTER FOURTEEN “Oh, what a beautiful train car!” I exclaimed as Mr. Bennett and I entered the dining compartment. “It’s just like I imagined it!” I was enthralled to see such a truly splendid room. The tables were covered with fine white linens, and there were flowers on every table. The graceful fabric draperies that lined the windows created a framework for the changing scenery. I watched in awe as waiters in white jackets took orders from the smiling patrons. The scene reminded me of those happy Texaco commercials on television. Instantly the sadness that was my constant companion receded into the background, and everything was momentarily beautiful and gay.
