CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX We worked very hard that week because we were at the height of the harvest and still waiting for new crew workers who had not yet arrived. Wes and his friend Zack had requested to extend their employment, but Hank refused. Leni and I were more than happy to put in extra hours just to cover the shortage rather than have Wes stay on.
