CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT The first thing I saw was the blood. Leni was sitting up on her cot with a blank look on her face. A blood-soaked blanket covered her groin, and another blanket was draped over her chest. "God help us!" I gasped. "We need to get a doctor - you're hemorrhaging!" Leni shook her head resolutely. "No! Flush it down the toilet." She lifted up the blanket to reveal a b****y mass that lay between her thighs. I was so horrified I froze. "Leni, don't move. We need to get help now!" As I turned to run for help, she called out to me. "Kat, stop! I need you. Please help me. I think it's alive." When I turned to face her, she lowered the blanket that covered her chest.
