Trevor finally entered his bedroom. He tiptoed himself to the chair on the other side of the room and sat there. He looked at the watch that hung on the wall and realized it was already one in the morning.
After a couple of heartbeats, he got up from the chair and slid the door to the balcony. Then, before he could go out, he remembered something. He almost forgot the reason he wanted to go to the balcony.
He went and opened his closet, then began moving clothes until he reached the deepest. He took a black small square box. It also had some diamonds which glittered with the light coming from the balcony.
He swiftly whirled as he heard Loveness make some weird, sleepy noise. But his shoulders got relaxed as he saw she was still sleeping.
Before he could exist the room, he went and pulled a blanket over her. Then he left with the black box in his hands. God knows what was in there.
As he reached the balcony, he pulled a white chair and sat down.
The weather was very favorable, judging by his body language. The moon was very big, like a dead man’s face. And the stars, as usual, were just sparkling. The clouds were turning an ink-black with each passing second.
He sighed and finally opened the box. There was a pack of Bidis which are flavored cigarettes and a black lighter.
He took the pack of cigarettes out of the box, then he got one cigarette and put one end to his mouth. Then he took the lighter and lit the other end of the cigarette.
He took one long drag and smoke came out of his mouth as he opened it.
After a couple of drags, a thought hit him. Was it safe that he allowed the academies to go free? Couldn’t they turn against him later? What if being on the dark side reminds them about their stupidity and changes their minds about helping Trevor? And there is Arron as well. Couldn’t he change his mind as well? And after the beating they just gave him, he might turn to the dark side as well.
What if he just made the biggest mistake in his life? He just united his enemies together.
“Dammit,” he cursed, and took another long drag.
Maybe he is just been too hard on himself. If the academies and Arron know what is best for them, they wouldn’t turn against him.
But he didn’t believe that statement either. If they unit then it was over for him and his family. Though he was a half-demon and half wizard, with the addition of his nature powers. Those powers wouldn’t help in the slightest.
The woman was very powerful, judging by what she did when he was fighting Reyar. And Reyar was a maker, which makes her powers more advanced than Trevor’s wizard powers.
The academies have their unique powers, which they could use to their advantage. Then there is Arron with his werewolf powers and the serpents. All these combined result in his doom. So figures crossed the academies wouldn’t act smart.
He finished his cigarette and took another one. He lit it up and took one drag. This time, smoke came out of his nose, not his mouth.
Then after his second drag, his thoughts deviated from the academies to his so-called cousin. He mentioned something about the house talking, could that be true? But before he could answer the question, a portal appeared.
He rolled from the chair and landed on the opposite side, his cigarette left his mouth, and fell off the balcony.
Trevor swiftly got up and called to his wizard powers. His black point wand appeared in his hands and he pointed it at the portal.
Could his fears come true? Hopefully not. His breathing grew heavier, and he began rounding the table to be a bit closer to the portal.
Then as a man’s military boot appeared, Trevor waved his wand, but a shield got created in front of the man.
“Are you trying to kill me before we could even complete our mission?” The man scolded.
He recognized the voice without even seen the man’s face. “Death, you should have given me a sign or something,” he sighed.
“I don’t have time for that,” the shield vanished.
Aside from his black military boots, Death wore a black polo short-sleeved shirt and brown cargo shorts.
“Well, I almost killed you. So giving me a heads up would be considered, don’t you think?” Trevor lifted the chair. Before he could sit down, he went and peeled at the glass door, but thankfully Loveness was a sound sleeper. Then he came back and sat down. “So tell me the status.”
“Well, they both bought it,” Death pulled a chair on the opposite side and sat down.
“Nice. And did you finally see that woman?”
“Oh, no. She was wearing a mask of some kind. But she is tall, like Loveness’s height. And the same body. But she had long white hair and her complexion just like Loveness’s as well,” he took one cigarette from the pack and lit it up.
“I don’t remember giving you one.”
“And I don’t remember asking you for one boy,” he took a long drag. “Banana flavored, not to my liking, but I can leave with it,” he added.
“So, is she still at your place?”
“No, she left a couple of minutes ago. Just after we arrived and lied to them. Then she went away. According to her, she had other things to attend to.”
“And did she believe you that easily?”
“Kinda. But she did a memory search of some kind. Likely, me and Hope had it covered. And with your beating, she had no choice but to believe our story.”
“Nice. And I think you should return before anyone notices you are missing,” Trevor suggested.
“Yeah,” Death got up and put half the cigarette on the table. “And what is phase three?”
“Well, for now just make sure that woman trusts you enough to show herself to you, ok?” Death nodded, “then we will go to phase three, also you need to find out what kind of powers she has. I don’t want any surprises.”
“Yeah sure. I will be on my way then,” without giving him a chance to reply, Death vanished.
Trevor stayed in silence for a few seconds, then he took a pack of cigarettes and the lighter and put them inside the black box. He took the box and went inside the bedroom.
He opened his closet and put the box deep inside his clothes. If Loveness were to find out about his cigarette smoking, they will be no way of stopping her shouting.
Then he got up and went to the side of the bed where Loveness was.
“I will do anything to keep you and your mother safe, my princess,” he touched Loveness’s stomach.
“Trevor,” Loveness said, rubbing her eyes, “what are you doing awake at this hour?”
“I wasn’t feeling sleepy. And you should get back to bed. Sorry for waking you up.”
“It’s fine. And don’t worry, she will be fine. Her father is here to keep her safe,” a smile stretched across her face.
“If only it was that easy. Sometimes I fear I might fail,” he sat on the floor.
“It’s justifiable to be afraid, T. But it’s not impossible, we have God by our side. Always remember that, ok?” She got up and sat.
“Yeah. And how has she been? Any kicking?”
“She has been troubling me for the past two days now.”
“I will do anything to keep both of you safe,” he touched Loveness’s hand.
“We know that. Right Angel,” he touched her stomach, smiling from ear to ear.
“We haven’t decided on the name yet.”
“Well, I think giving her my sister’s name would be a good idea.”
“As much as I appreciate your sister’s help. I’m not going to name her after your sister.”
“But T....”
“We can discuss her name later, Loveness. It’s late we should go to bed,” he got up and rounded the bed.
“Where do you think you are sleeping like that?”
“On my bed.”
“Please. Go and freshen up. You even have blood on your hands. Come on. Go and take a shower. And we are not arguing about this,” she added upon seeing Trevor open his mouth to retort.
“Fine. But I’m only bathing because I want to.”
“As long as you bathe, I don’t care.”
He left and slid the door to the bathroom, which was on the other side of the bedroom.
After a couple of minutes, he came back with a towel wrapped around his waist. Without even bothering to apply lotion, he just put on his pajamas.
“You will even sleep peacefully,” Loveness said.
“Yeah, sure,” he went and slept on his side of the bed but they faced each other. “Good night my princess,” he touched Loveness’s belly. “Good night dear,” he kissed Loveness on her forehead.
“Good night,” Loveness replied and leaned her head on Trevor’s chest.
Before they both knew it they were fast asleep.
