CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

They finally reached home after a couple of minutes. They entered the house and everything was intact. Nothing unusual to ruin their great day. They both sat on the couch with everyone. Well, except for the kids. After some time, Loveness and Natasha left and went to the kitchen. While the rest continued watching TITANS on Netflix. After almost an hour. Loveness and Natasha finished cooking and prepared food on the dining table. Everyone moved from the couches and went to the dining table. The boys came downstairs. They took their food and went back up. Due to lack of space on the table, they thought it right to go and eat in their bedrooms. They staffed themselves with the delicious meal cooked by the two women. And an hour later finished and went back to the couches. “Trevor, have you checked on the Academies?” Loveness asked. “Oh, s**t. I forgot,” he got up, “I will be right back. “ Before he could shadow walk, Sebastian grabbed his shirt. And seconds later they appeared in Santa’s dan. The academies were still pinned to the wall by vines. “Hey, Death and Hope. Hopefully, your day went well,” Trevor laughed at his joke. “Actually, it did. We really enjoyed it, right Death,” Hope said. “Nice, but sorry to ruin it. Hopefully, you will understand,” Trevor moved closer to them. “Death is coming closer to you, Death,” Sebastian said and burst out laughing. But they just looked at him. Even Trevor. “That wasn’t fun, man,” Hope said. Trevor and Death just nodded in support of Hope. Then Trevor resumed his walk and finally reached about an inch from the academies. They both closed their eyes forcefully. Their breaths even grew louder. Hearts hammering so audibly that Sebastian, who was ten feet from them, could hear. Then Trevor touched Death on his forehead and dragged his finger from the left side of the forehead to the right side. The academy cried in agony as some sort of line got created following where Trevor’s finger passed. Then minutes later his screaming died down. But smoke kept coming from the line on his forehead. Trevor moved to Hope. And the man was already screaming before Trevor could do anything. Without worrying about the man’s scream, Trevor touched his forehead as well then dragged his finger just like he did with Death. Hope also screamed on top of his lungs. Then minutes later his screaming died down. But both the academies’ eyes were still closed. But they opened them as Trevor moved closer to Sebastian. “That was really fun. I needed it, thanks child,” Death said with a dark grin on his face. “You are welcome. See, we are getting along,” Trevor said, smiling back. “Since we are getting along. Do you mind telling me more about Reyar? What is she planning? Aside from killing me, of course. “ “Do you seriously think they will tell you?” Sebastian asked. “They are psychopaths. And they can’t rat their friend.” “I think they will. Hope,” he swiveled and concentrated on only Hope. “Do you mind doing the honors?” Hope nodded, “good, you can start.” “So aside from killing you, she wants first to kill your loved ones. “ “Why does every freaking bastard we meet always after our families? That’s not fair, you know? And that is an act of cowardly,” Sebastian said. “So as I was saying before I was rudely interrupted,” he glared at Sebastian and carried on. “So she wants you to feel the pain she feels every day, knowing that her husband was never in love with her. “ “Personally, I think that plan is stupid. Just for the record. As that child,” he looked at Sebastian, “as he pointed out that is an act of cowardly,” Death said, looking more relaxed and back in control of his body. “But you also sent me and Sebastian to frogsta land, so you can attack my family in our absence,” Trevor mentioned. “But that plan backfired,” Sebastian added. “Exactly. That is the reason we stopped going with such stupid plans. Why do you think we never attacked your family while you were stuck In Yarrum and being tortured by Egayov?” Hope said, then moved his body to get comfortable. “I appreciate that,” he dipped his head, “so if you knew I was in Yarrum, why didn’t you come and finish me there. I mean, I was not able to use my powers?” Trevor asked, looking thoughtfully from Death to Hope. “Well, Reyar never allowed us. It was like she knew her son would sympathize with you. And she was right,” Death said. “But she was also wrong,” everyone turned to face Sebastian, “I mean, she probably told you, you will kill Trevor after her son acted sympathetically towards him. But as we can see, that is not the case,” he gestured for the academy’s bodies. “So, do you know what she is planning right now? She hasn’t come to attack me or my family,” Trevor spoke. “How should we know when we are here with you?” Hope asked. “Oh,” was all Trevor could say. They stayed in silence for some time, then Trevor went on. “I’m uncertain about one thing though,” he looked at the academies. “What?” they both asked and seemed to have overcome the pain they were in a few minutes ago. “Well, I don’t know if you are familiar with wizards and witches’ family trees. “ “Yes, we know about those,” Death spoke. He has been too busy to notice that the room was too dim. So he waved his wand, and the room got lit. The academy of death was proportionally huge. A face that had once been youthfully handsome. Dark in complexion and short hair. While the Academy of hope was not as huge as Death. His body size was just like Trevor. Light in complexion and long brown hair that drenched on his shoulders. “So those trees kind of let you know if your family will continue or not..” “Dude, what are you doing? Telling them won’t help. Just kill them already?” Sebastian said angrily looking from Death to Hope. “Sebastian shut up. Why did you even follow me here? Anyways as a was saying,” he whirled back to the Academy. “So it will let you know if your child will be born or not.. “ “And in your case, the name of your daughter is not there,” Hope finished Trevor’s words. “Exactly. But you bastards are at my mercy. I can kill you any time I want. But despite that, the name of my daughter does not appear on the family tree. “ “Well, there is someone out there who is a threat to your unborn baby,” Death spoke. “But who apart from you heartless bastards?” Trevor looked up and began pacing. Stamping his feet on the floor loudly. “We are not heartless, man. We were just trying to protect ourselves, just like you are doing. When your daughter is born, that is the end of us. So technically, we weren’t wrong. If you think from our point of view,” Hope said. Trevor just looked at him and continued pacing. Who might be a threat to my baby? Siobhan? I don’t think so. That bastard is afraid of me. He thought. “Can’t you just tell us who might be a threat to his baby? It’s the least you can do,” Sebastian spoke. “I wish we can but,” Hope said. “But why can’t you?” Trevor asked. “Well, if we tell you, she will definitely kill us. Not to mention the torture she will put us through,” Death said. “Wait, it’s a she?” Both Trevor and Sebastian gasped. “Yes,” Death responded. “A woman is messing with my family. That’s nonsense. Tell me who she is and will end her right away. She won’t even have time to come for you,” Trevor said and moved closer to them. “As we. Said. We. Can’t. Can you move back? You. Are. Putting. Us in pain,” Hope said. They allowed silence to take over. Trevor resumed his pacing. Sebastian just watched his friend thoughtfully. The wind blew in and the atmosphere in the room was becoming chilly. Even the candle that sat on the table was dimming up. Trevor looked up and waved his wand. Then the small window on the top left of the room closed. “The sword,” he gasped and winked out of sight. Seconds later, he appeared in the living room and only the boys were there. Presumably, everyone might have gone to bed. He ignored their glances and just took the sword and shadow walked back inside Santa’s dan. He moved closer to the Academies again. “Do you know anything about this sword?” He lifted the sword so they can take a closer look. “Not really. But that wing symbol,” Hope looked closer at the wings imprinted on the sword. “That’s our symbol, or should I say it used to be,” he looked at Death. And for the first time, Trevor noticed sadness in the two academies’ eyes. “What do you mean it used to be your symbol?” Trevor asked, and moved a step back after noticing the two academies facial expressions. “Explain,” he demanded. “I know this will sound crazy, but your father was once an academy. He was the fourth one,” Death spoke. Then looked at Hope, silently asking if they were making the right decision. “What, nonsense,” Trevor said, eyes burning. “I told you we should just kill them, man. These assholes are of no use at all,” Sebastian said through clenched teeth. “Yeah, I think you are right.” Trevor began moving closer to the academies. They screamed in agony as Trevor reached about two feet from them. He raised the sword and pointed it at Death. Then the wings on the sword began to glow. Trevor looked at it, mystified. Then he turned at the two academies. And their eyes were glowing the same color as the wings on the sword. Flame-like color. “We. Are. Telling. The. Truth,” Hope stammered. “Try. To. Listen. For once,” Death said, and carried on screaming. “Trevor, don’t listen to these blood lies,” Sebastian said. “Don’t be. Stupid,” Hope said, and looked at Trevor with his glowing eyes. Trevor lowered his sword. Ignoring Sebastian’s words. Then he moved about five feet backward. “Now, start explaining. You have three minutes,” Trevor said. Both Death and Hope took calming deep breaths and looked at Trevor. “What is this nonsense about my father being an academy?” Trevor asked again. “Your father was once an academy boy. He was the fourth one. The academy of allusions,” Death said. “But after he fell for your mother. He left us,” Hope said. Grinding his teeth. “And he started fighting against us. We were like brothers. But after your mother came along, everything changed. He became a completely different person,” Death said. “If he started fighting against you, then your actions weren’t good. As far as I know, my father he always fought for was is good,” Trevor said. “He started fighting for what is right when your mother came along. Your father used to punish innocent people, child. And I can see the same genes in you,” Death said. “Your father made us venerable. We started walking on foot, despite having wings,” Hope spoke. Trevor resumed pacing again. Trying to comprehend what he just heard about his father. Was he indeed a bad person? Or they are trying to mess with his mind? Was his father really an academy? He paced for almost twenty minutes. Sebastian was now sitting under a shining armour. Both the academies injuries were healing up. Trevor stopped and looked from Death to Hope. “You are lying. My father can’t hate anyone who doesn’t deserve it,” Trevor said. “No matter how many times you deny it, boy, we are telling you the truth. Where did you find that sword? Your father used it to cut our wings off,” Hope said. “Delur gave it to me. “ “Who is that?” Death asked. “Emit’s snowman. “ “Ask the snowman where it got the sword. I’m sure that will answer your questions. Also, all the academies have a tattoo of a wing on their left hand. You must have noticed something like it on your father, isn’t it?” Hope asked. Trevor looked down, trying to think. But just didn’t make sense to him. Not even a bit. His father being an Academy and killing innocent people. It just didn’t make sense.
