Trevor got up and began pacing, Sebastian and Hope just gazed at him. He began beating his hands together, as he murmured something under his breath that only he could hear.
“You know that doesn’t help in the slightest, right?” Hope asked, mouth full.
“Do you know anything about the plan, or you could not get the information from Reyar as well?” Trevor asked.
“Not really, she just gave us a heads up. I think the meeting will be today. So she is likely to tell us the plan. But just for the in cases you need to prepare.”
“And what is Arron up to lately? Hope he is not misbehaving,” Sebastian spoke.
“Don’t worry about him. Death has made sure the boy behaves.” he took a spoon full of rice.
Trevor carried on pacing, stamping his feet with every step he took. His worries were justified, he already had Emmanual to worry about. Because of him, he had to make a trip to hell. The last time he was there, he didn’t leave a good impression on the demon dragons. After he killed their leader, it was obvious he made an enemy with them. So he worried not only about Emmanual but also about the demon dragons. Also, when he helped his uncle to defeat the Hippogriff, he made the creatures upset. So there are a lot of scenarios in which he can die.
“Trevor, what is our next step? Are we still going to hell? Or has the plan changed?”
“We have to go. Hope please store Reyar for a while, we might take longer than expected in hell. So under no circumstances should you allow Reyar to attack. Wait for my signal. Do I make myself clear?” Trevor said.
“Don’t just eat, you have to do as he says.” Sebastian added upon seeing that Hope was just concentrating on nothing but food.
“Yeah, I have heard you. But you both owe me,” Hope said, mouth full.
“You are the one who owes me. Mind you, I can leave you to deal with that woman and Reyar on your own. So don’t act smart with me,” Trevor said.
“Whatever. I gotta go before anyone sees I’m not around,” he got up.
“Alright, but stare on the lookout. The next time any of you visit, maybe we won’t be around. But you can inform Mutale if things go south there,” Hope nodded. “Only Mutale, no one else.”
“Alright,” he threw a black marble, and it burst open, then a portal began forming. “See you later, and wishing you the best on the trip of the dead.”
Before, any of them could reply, Hope stepped into the portal and it winked out of sight.
Trevor went and sat next to Sebatian, but none of them said anything. Minutes passed and finally half an hour, still there was total silence.
“We should get some sleep, we have a trip to make tomorrow,” Sebastian got up.
“Yeah…….. Dammit,” he exclaimed.
“What?”
“Tomorrow is Saturday.”
“What about it?”
“Levison is supposed to meet us, remember?”
“Oh, yeah.”
“So if we are going, then it is in the evening. Aren’t you supposed to report to work tomorrow?” Trevor also got up.
“Yes i’m.”
“I think you should just remain here. Meaning you shouldn’t follow in hell,” he added after seeing the look displayed on Sebatian’s face. “I know you want to help, but this is something i hipped on myself. You have a family to provide for. Also in that way, you can monitor things around here.”
“I think you should go to sleep,” Sebastian said and began walking to the door.
“Sebatian, listen. I know it sounds crazy…..”
“Crazy!” he turned to look at Trevor, “It’s stupid, man. Do you seriously think I’m going to allow you to go to hell alone? That is not possible and we are not discussing that topic any further.” he turned and began walking forward.
“Sebastian, don’t act like a senseless person. You know you need that job. We all know they can’t give you a leave, just after working for a day. You will also be my eyes around this house,” Trevor followed as Sebatian went out of the library. “Listen, dammit!”
“Trevor, you listen, that place is deadly. There is no way I’m gonna allow you to go there alone, ok?”
“Sebatian, your job…..”
“Forget about the job. I’m coming with you and that is that,” they took a corner.
They walked in silence until they reached the living room. Trevor kept on trying to persuade Sebastian to stay behind, but the man was bent on following. Though it was justifiable that Sebastian wanted to help, it was also true that him risking his job was a dumb decision to make.
Though they live in the magical world, it is also clear that part of their lives are in the human world. The clothes, food, transport, houses, to mention but a few. So that job was really important, but he is only seeing it from his point of view.
Trevor might have saved him multiple times, but he might not be there to save him once again. So the sooner he accepts Trevor’s proposal, the better.
he left Trevor shouting in the living room as Sebastian made his way to his bedroom.
“That’s just great,” Trevor said and went on the couch.
He lay there facing the ceiling until he fell asleep.
*
The next morning he woke to the sound of a glass shattering. The room was dim, the only source of light was coming from the kitchen.
He got up and began walking towards the kitchen, still rubbing his eyes.
“Who is there?” he asked.
“It’s me. Sorry for waking you up,” a woman replied, whose voice Trevor recognized very well.
“Maggie, what the hell are you doing in the kitchen at this hour?” Trevor asked as he reached the kitchen.
She wore a black night dress that sat way above her knees, white house slippers and a pink hat to cover her long black hair.
“I think I told you to dress appropriately in this house,” he added.
“It was the only night dress I had. Besides, I took it from your wife, so she may wear it. Why am I not?” she argued.
“She never comes out with that dress. Now go and don’t wear that dress again,” he scolded.
She took water in a cup and began walking, she passed him and said, “I know I may not be the one to ask you this, but, do you know Loveness that well?”
“Maggie, go to bed, don’t start with that nonsense again,” Trevor said, still facing his back on her.
“I’m just trying to help. Please do your research, or at least watch her closely.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Just do that,” before he could reply, he heard her feet leaving the room. He turned, and she was already out of sight.
This was the second time she has told me about his wife. What was she getting at? Was there a big reason she kept on telling him he didn’t know his wife? And this time, she told him to monitor her. Was Loveness hiding something from him? Or she was just jealous. If that is the case, then why was she jealous of Loveness? Maybe she was in love with Trevor.
Which again doesn’t make perfect sense. She already has a husband and they look happy together. But whatever it is it has to wait,
He went back to the living room and sat down. Looking at his phone, he saw it was already four in the morning.
“Dammit,” he said and leaned his head on the couch.
His to-do list just got multiplied.
Before he could fall asleep again, a thought hit him and knocked him out of his sleep. He got up and winked out of sight.
Then, seconds later, he appeared in a dark room. He quickly called to his wizard powers and his wand appeared in his hands. He waved it and the tip of it got lit.
“Will you let me sleep?” Emmanuel groaned.
“It’s already morning,” Trevor spoke and stopped two feet from Emmanual’s head. “You still have questions to answer.”
“You keep cutting me when I haven’t finished. I presume your parents never told you about respecting your elders,” he directed his gaze at Trevor.
“Oh……….”
Before he could even finish his sentence, Mutale and Justine appeared beside him.
They were panting; they couldn’t even speak.
Trevor looked at them in stunned disbelief.
“What the hell are you doing here? Mutale, start explaining,” Trevor said.
“It……..it,” Mutale began but could not speak. The boy just kept on panting.
The back of Trevor’s hair stood on end when he just realised what the hell was going on.
