I ignored the feeling and kept walking enjoying the sun and the fresh air. I was standing next to a giant tree when I hear some grumbling, looking around I saw three wolves coming toward me. I remembered the ranger advice and just tried to ignore the wolves but they didn't ignore me.
Their growls became louder and they began stalking toward me. I felt the same thing inside me shift again, I had no explanation for this feeling, for this thing inside but it wanted to fight the wolves back.
A growl left my lips a tiny one compared to theirs but they heard it never the less and they froze. They looked at me, the leader of the group walked toward me looking me straight in the eyes and growling louder and louder.
From what I know about real dogs and wolves he's trying to force his dominance on me. But the thing inside me refused to let it go and kept my head high.
The same wolf growled again louder, barking at me and the thing in me exploded. I felt pain in my bones every single one hurt, the pain dragged me to my knees and I screamed in agony.
The wolves froze again, the leader looked excited first until he heard my scream of pure t*****e again. He looked at his two companion and they left running toward the forest.
Another scream and all I could see was darkness, I had cold sweat covering my whole body. The thing inside me wanted out but I was too afraid of this sensation, afraid of letting it out.
I tried to rain it in, deep breaths, deep breaths I scold myself. After few trials my breathing slowed down, I closed my eyes and focused on the steady ground underneath me. Grounding my mind and body, the same way I do when I have a panic attack. This is probably a panic attack, it's working so far.
After few minutes whatever that sensation was disappeared leaving me a sweaty mess. I got up to my knees then my feet, stumbling around till I reached the path again. Walking slowly and on unsteady feet I made it back to the park, the same ranger saw me stumbling and made me sit on a bench.
He gave me water and some chocolate, I gave him an excuse of getting overheated and not having any water.
"That's not safe. You never go hiking without extra water and some appropriate clothes. Next time I won't even let you pass" he scold me like I'm a little child and I just nod my head.
Too dizzy and tired to correct him or tell to f**k off. He asked if I had anyone to come get me and I said no, I'm supposed to meet my "mother" at the dinner. The ranger refused to let me walk there, saying I might get hurt again, seriously who does this guy think he is?
"No thank you sir I'll be okay on my own" I tried telling him but he wouldn't listen.
He got me a ride with some local guys back to the dinner, I tried refusing but my objection fell on deaf ears.
So this is how I ended up in a car with two guys, they were around my age but both of them trice my size. I was also stuck between them in the buff guy number one truck. While buff guy number two kept changing between the stations on the radio.
"So what brought you to our town" buff one asks
"I moved in with my mother" I tell him honestly.
"Really who is she, I should know her" buff two asks leaving the radio alone.
"No I doubt you know her. Anyways thank you guys for the ride" I say trying to get out, the ride was short and I really wanted it to end.
I was trying to climb down the gigantic truck when buff one hold my hand stopping me.
"Just stay out of the woods, not all the wolves are friendly" he says making me wonder how he knew I was there to start with.
I mumbled a thank you and went in to the dinner again. I sat down in a booth alone, I checked my i********:, f*******:, twitter and even played few rounds of candy crush to pass the time.
I was too taken by the game trying to break all the jellies when someone sit next to me. Looking up I saw it's the same girl from this morning, Tina.
"Hey pretty boy" she says while playing with a strand of my hair.
"Hey Tina" I say with a shy smile.
"You still here?" she asked
"No I went for a walk around the town" I reply.
"Ohh cool. How do you like the town" she ask with real interest.
"It's okay so far. I even went hiking I like the woods" I tell her blushing
"Ohh that's cool. You didn't see any wolves did you? They don't hurt anyone btw" she says with a forced smile this time.
"Yeah I saw some wolves, you're correct they are nice" I lie hiding the fact they tried attacking.
"Yeah man" he says with a sigh of relief "just stay inside the trails we don't want anything to happen to you"
I smile and nod, we shared dinner but she had to leave afterwards since she had early classes tomorrow.
I sat for another half an hour alone until my mother came to get me, finally I could use a shower and some good night sleep.
Chapter Four: New Home.
Word Count: 838
The ride to my mother house was full of silence, my mother live in one story house. She had a backyard that opens to the woods and a front yard, the house was in a walking distance of the town.
She left to catch my stuff from her trunk while she walked in, I followed her later and was shocked with the smell of fresh cookies.
I didn't know where to put my stuff so I left them in the doorway and went to search for my mother. I found her in the kitchen sharing a deep kiss with another woman, I had no idea my mother had a girlfriend or that she's gay to begin with.
Once they broke the kiss the other lady was ten shades of red while my mother didn't give a damn.
"Well this is embarrassing I'm Lydia" she says while offering me a hand to shake.
"Hi I'm Oliver" I tell her shaking her hand back.
"He's adorable Han" the lady, I mean Lydia says while kissing my mother jaw. Now I notice she's as short as me, while my mother is proud six foot one. She towers over both of us easily, my mother grunt again and look at Lydia before she leave the kitchen.
Lydia sigh and look at me with sad eyes.
"She just need time to warm up. Why don't I show you your room" she offer and I accept
She took me to a guest room and inform me she washed the sheets. I put my suitcase in the room and look around, it's a simple room all white with a bed in the middle.
"Thank you ma'am for everything" I tell her.
"Oh call me Lydia ma'am make me sound old" she says with a smile.
"Well thank you Lydia" I give her a tired smile.
She left me on my own and I take off my sweaty clothes and head toward the shower. After a very long hot shower I put on some pajamas and sit in bed, the mattress isn't the most comfortable but it will do.
I see a window and go open it to get some fresh breath, the room offer a view to the forest bathed in mood light. It felt so comforting, I was afraid of this new house, new life, new everything. I just felt tears streaming down my face, I didn't bother wiping them , I just cried my heart out till I had no more tears.
I have to be strong and act all tough, even though that's not me. My mother is, I have no description for her but soon I'll be eighteen and I'll be able to leave. She can't make me stay, wolf or not, I want to get back to my home, my father house.
I finish my crying session and slip in the bed, I'm so tired that I don't mind the tough mattress or the itchy sheets.
I had weird dreams that night, I dreamt of wolves, the forest and the moon. The moon was calling me over and over again but I didn't know how to act or what to do.
I woke up tired, it was a night full of vivid dreams that left me unrested. I got up and got ready for the day, I had no idea what I'm going to do today but staying in my pajamas was a bit too depressing.
I walked in the kitchen to see Lydia and no sign of my mother. I smile and walk in, Lydia gesture for me to take a seat. She place a plate full of egg, bacon and toast for me.
"Eat up" she says warmly
"Where's mother?" I couldn't help but ask.
"She's off to work but you'll see her later tonight"
I get back to my food, I finish it and try to wash my dish but Lydia wouldn't let me.
I went back to my room and spent about an hour there alone until I started going crazy.
I did some unpacking of my clothes and even offered Lydia help at house chores but she refused.
I watched few videos and some movies but time seemed to be going in slow motion.
I decided to get out and take a walk around the house, the woods were calling my name again so that what happened.
I went to explore the space close to the house. It took me in too deep of the forest, the green, the sound of nature were comforting.
I felt the same thing inside me shift again, moving around it wanted to explode, to get out.
I kept raining it in and kept walking, it left me alone and subsided. I was happy with my walk I didn't even notice how far away I went.
Until I saw some wolves, these seemed to be more aggressive than the one I saw yesterday, they weren't going to let me get away and the feeling inside me moved again.
I'm totally screwed...
Chapter Five: Shifting.
Word Count: 978.
The wolves growled at me, I fell on my knees from the thing inside me. No breathing could take it in this time, it want out and it want to get out now.
I screamed, then screamed and screamed some more. It hurt everything I felt like my bones are breaking all over my body.
In my haze I heard someone says "get the alpha" and another scream "he need help". I totally agree, I do need help and I need it now, another scream of agony, of pure pain, nothing I ever endured hurt this much.
I was on the verge of fainting, I felt weak, and then the pain stopped, everything stopped. I couldn't hear a thing, I was finally in peace no pain, no hurt. I'm dying, I don't mind let me go in peace I had no one to care or even give a damn about me.
I made peace with my end, with my death, I was ready to go. Until a voice broke the spell, the pain was back everywhere, it's worst then before now. My back feel like it's breaking one by one, it hurt too much and I scream.
"Listen to my voice" the voice says, it was full of dominance and demanding to be obliged.
