Chapter 36 Shannon“You’re pregnant.” Dr. Franklin started her spiel with lots of filler, and afterward, she provided advice for follow-up and support. I only heard the two words. In the three days of hellish anticipation since getting the blood test, I resigned myself to the news. Despite that, hearing definitive confirmation of the pregnancy froze me. “Based on what you told me, I calculate you to be about five weeks along. Now, that’s based on the date of your last period. Once you’re further along we can do a sonogram, and we may revise your due date. It looks like, oh…July fourth.” The doctor smiled at me as if that piece of information would make this pregnancy less catastrophic. Taryn and I would be pregnant at the same time.
