This heart once hard as a rock Is now as soft as snow Like the heat upon a volcanic rock The molten tears flow He thought he could bear The feeling of despair As life escaped his dear And the porter of hades served her a chair But as he watched that tender thing The beauty of her face dwindling The sweetness of her last word was so piercing That his heart couldn’t bear the sting He grasped without understanding He looked without seeing He listened without hearing But he was sure he felt death singing For she was but the last of her kind Three from a woman they were introduced To this world, but from it, they have declined All leaving none behind A family once softened by femininity Is left with only the bone of masculinity The mother the last hope of tranquility In the strife of masculine brutality He has now an injunction To carry in his soul a duality A masculine and feminine fusion To foster peace and serenity Though his heart may bleed He has to pick up the staff Leading they that weep For he has a STRONG HEART Dedicated to a brother, and to all those who are enduring the tragedy of losing one of their sisters, their only sister, or all their sisters.
