I watch her leave quickly, with a small grin of satisfaction on my face. She throws me a last melancholic and desperate look, before disappearing in the dark night. I'm getting my ass kicked while waiting, me, for a girl I don't even know, what a senseless effrontery! I muttered to myself then, in my mind. Nevertheless, I clearly can't stay here, watching her being assaulted without reacting.
Even if I know that the outcome will be unfortunate for me. It's like that, it's been in my veins since I was a kid, but I've never had the courage to save someone, except now, strangely enough. Fear paralyzes me every time I've tried, without success. But this time I have to do it and I did it, finally! It's as if my legs are moving by themselves without me realizing it.
Of course, I'm also anesthetized by alcohol, so I don't feel the blows coming at me too hard and loud. However, one can say that they rain everywhere on my body. My body is swollen, covered with bruises, bloody wounds, blisters and broken bones of all kinds. I'm sure I'm a sight to behold at this very moment...
I'm spitting blood, waiting for them to finish their dirty work as two-bit criminals. Which clearly for them, is nothing but a game! However, I don't f*****g care, I only have two thoughts in my head, at this precise moment, the first one: to hope that the woman is back home safe and sound. And the second one: that this ordeal ends quickly, because I really want to sleep and go home, for f**k's sake...
After what seems to me to last an eternity, one of my torturers sees the time on his watch by inadvertence, during the fight. He and his friends stop beating me up. He tells them that I've had enough and that I'm not going to get up any time soon, that I've learned my lesson... It's twenty-one fifty-three and the "Divine Glow" is about to enter the scene.
They all have to go back immediately, because the eclipse is going to come and it's better not to be outside when it will appear from behind the clouds. They don't want to end up both blind and cooked like grilled chicken. They run home in a hurry and leave me there, abandoned, all alone, in a pitiful state in the middle of nowhere.
I try to get up as best I can, but it's impossible, I think I have a broken arm and leg from my beating... And I think I must have a lot of other broken or punctured things along the way, because I hurt absolutely everywhere and I can hear my limbs and bones cracking inside of me.... I can't breathe well or move the sides of my body.
Then, no sound can come out of my throat, I am short of breath and cut off. Even though I want to scream my head off. I can't speak or call for help because my cell phone is in the back pocket of my jeans. I try to reach it as best as I can, in vain. I am alone and nobody knows where I am or in what state. I can't move anymore, I'm immobile on the green grass of this humid wood. Lying on my back, stiff as a plank of wood, face to face with the night sky, lonely.
I look at it deeply, with the most open eyes I can now. But it's hard, with all the shiners I get... I tell myself that at this moment everything is calm and peaceful, in the abyss of this painful night and that I will certainly not regret dying now, even if burned alive. I have clearly resigned myself at this moment, but at least I have saved one person, that's something!
And frankly, it was worth it, I don't regret anything! Because I saved a life and for me, it is the most important. Nothing else matters more to me than that, at this very moment.
Finally, it is also a growing relief for me, because I do not undergo any more the pangs of this useless life now, I am at peace with myself, as I never was before and without any regret... The reaper only has to come and take me now... I am ready...
I see then the sun, getting closer and closer to the moon and melting deeply into it. A blue opaline moon with a sun glowing with luminous intensity, orange and canary yellow. At the moment of their fusion, these two planets give off an incandescent red, as fiery as a huge red explosion! The spectacle is really magnificent, you have to see it at least once in a lifetime, to be able to understand it!
Even if I feel my eyes getting charred, I can't look away. This fusion, this divine glow, is breathtaking! Then comes rays, of a multitude of luminous colors that encompass my entire environment. Intermingled with this, an infinite number of glittering sequins that fall to the ground like snowflakes. I have never seen anything so beautiful in my life.
Strangely enough, and I don't know why, I feel a little better and my eyeballs don't burn anymore. The rays invade the whole sky and the earth, like fireworks a hundred times more powerful. Suddenly, one of these halos of light envelops me entirely in its embrace, it is warm and sweet at the same time. Then, it strikes me like a lightning bolt! It pierces me and invades all my being from part to part. A deep heat runs through my body at that moment. This one releases a blinding light, whiter than white.
Even me, I have to close my eyes so much it is dazzling. It only lasts a moment, but it feels like an eternity. However, it must have happened for four or five minutes, no more.... During that time, my being is lifted off the ground, like a magician's levitation. But this is not an illusion or a trick, this time it is real!
I can feel that I am light as a feather. I am two meters above the ground, as if there is no gravity in this luminous halo that surrounds me. The emotion of this event followed by my aggression before, is too intense and too vivid, so I naturally end up falling into the unconscious... I don't remember anything after that. My memory is blurred and my memories are gone...
That night, the girl couldn't bring herself to run away home, safe and sound. While leaving behind her, the valiant young man who came to her rescue fifteen minutes earlier. He is in a bad state and in bad shape now. She returns on her steps, guilt obliges and to help him, because she is hidden behind a tree. Then, at four or five meters in front of her, the young woman sees a strange phenomenon occurring.
The moon and the sun, these magnificent stars begin to start a frenzied dance, that of their symbolic union. It is ten past twenty, and she has completely forgotten about the eclipse! It has completely slipped her mind, because of the events that had taken place before. She is completely panicked and doesn't want to end up blind, or burned alive! But she can't bring herself to let him down again to save her own skin. Even if he ordered her to do it.
The rays begin to surround all the wood, and to project themselves like lightning on the ground. A beautiful but equally dangerous sight, she sees the paralyzed man who saved her, start to float in the air, enveloped in a multicolored and luminous aura. She doesn't know what is going on but what is sure is that it is neither harmless nor normal as a situation. She observes that he is conscious, but cannot move. Until a gushing white light emanates from his whole body and it blinds her for two or three minutes at a time! It is so powerful that it illuminates the whole forest, like an enchanted Christmas tree.
It is as if the sun itself invited itself to the meeting and was here, by surprise, on earth. She can't believe her eyes, but she feels in turn, a sparkling beam that assails her entirely. It falls on her at a crazy speed and with a dizzying force. In the range of this one, similarly, there is no more gravity inside.
Then, a shimmering rainbow of colors and luminescent flashes is drawn around her. The young girl, then begins to be lifted in the air, in her turn. She is dismayed by what she lives and tries to fight this unreal hold as well as possible, but without succeeding... The incomprehension wins her at once. For no apparent reason, the young lady does not consume herself on the spot, as expected the day before on the news.
