XXXI Sound Asleep.

‘That Shaw guy was coated with the same smell. From head to toe, it’s stronger than the one those two had,’ There was no need to ask who *those two* were, he already knew. Jake and Ash. Well, now there was only one of them…and then he was hit with the realization. Jake…the one that he left alive. He thought that he killed everyone that was related to Gotham’s during his heist on the tower. But then, Shaw Gotham appeared on screen like thunder roaring in the sky. For a second there, Elfric thought that everything that he has been working on was in vain. It wasn’t that Jake slipped his mind but, he thought that he was finished as well but now that Shaw Gotham surfaced he needed to rethink his statement about the death of all Gothams. ‘You are thinking what I’m thinking about too, right?’ Orathan said after observing how Elfric was silent out of nowhere. Elfric simply nodded. The calamity of the possibility was killing him inside slowly. He had no memory of finishing Jake off at the heist either. He had a feeling that if he did he would have some sort of vibrant memory. Jake wasn’t just another ordinary human. Nothing that he can’t handle but, a little bit of a fight. “What do you think I should do?” He asked despite knowing the answer. ‘Kill him of course,’ Orathan said. ‘If he is to do or say something then he is to be disposed of at once, along with any other humans that know the truth of your identity.’ He was right. After all, this is what he had planned all along. But something was bugging at him inside that he couldn’t quite get hold of it. “If he really is alive then why…” “HEY, YOU SON OF A…!” A voice came roaring at him from behind. He recognized Christopher’s furious tone and turned around to look at his friend who was stumbling in every step he took. Elfric was still to decided whether that flush on his friend’s face was from the embarrassment of what he just said in front of the nobles or was he just intoxicated by the alcohol that he had. “You think we are still in school, eh?” said Elfric. “Your Stepmother will be rather disappointed to hear you curse like that?” “Like I give a f**k what that woman thinks!” Chris scoffed. Elfric eyed the crowd around them, thankfully no one was paying them any attention and Lady Charlotte wasn’t there either. Christopher’s stepmother. “You are drunk,” “I wouldn’t have if a certain someone didn’t ditch me and leave!” Chris scoffed with his brows raised. “I’m sure that I told you that I’m heading to the bathroom,” Elfric said while holding out his hand. “Want to smell the fresh peach scent of the soap?” “Get that away from me!” Chris almost cried out in disgust. Elfric wondered what he heard for a second. “Anyway, I’m tired I wanna go home.” Elfric knew that if he refused or argued, Chris may start whining and that was the last thing he need right now. Also, there was no need for refusing. He was searching for him to leave in the first place. “Alright let’s go,” And they left together as Chris gladfully took Elfric’s shoulder to lean on. They had no idea of what was going on behind them. “Hey dad,” a young girl with fired-red hair and golden eyes spoke. Her golden eyes fixed on Elfric as he moved in the crowd. Her being the daughter of the banquet’s host, she was leaning over the handrail of the second floor. The man with similar red hair that was turning gray at the temple with a glass of champagne on his lips, looked at his daughter. “What about him, Roxana?” he said. “I want him…”   ~~~~   Shaw walked down the white tiled floor of the laboratory. The doctors were walking a step behind him. “What are his statues?” Shaw asked. “He is still in the capsule, My Lord,” answered one of them. “His cells have just started to accept the treatment that’s given,” “Is he awake?” The doctor held up his head as if Shaw has asked a weird question. “N-no, My Lord,” he stuttered. “Can we wake him up?” “Not at the moment. If he is awakened then he will most probably die of shock. It’s best to leave him sleeping. If you have something urgent to ask him I can stop the treatment,” he explained. Shaw was quiet as he processed the proposal. “No,” said Shaw. “That won’t be necessary.” He sighed. Everything was just system this time to cover the identity of the boy with the Devil. What are the odds that Jake was put under the sedatives and treatment at the same time that the tower caught fire? It was like the world was on that boy’s side. Who was he? Shaw wondered. After profiling his identity for a while he figured that he wasn’t just another human who was sought after fame and money like the rest. No, this one had a plan. He knows how to use Orathan, thought Shaw as he came to a stop. The white metallic doors slid open as one of the doctors scanned his fingerprint on a panel that was on the left of the door. As it took its time to open the sound of silence was broken by the sound of rattling mechanism pulling open the door. Soon, it was joined by the sounds of doctors talking on the other side of the metal door. They all stopped what they were doing and bowed their heads to Shaw. His complete attention was on that green capsule that stood in the middle of the lab with Jake inside. Jake had nothing but a short to cover his lower body, his brown hair floating in the green fluid and his eyes were shut almost as if he was sleeping peacefully. “Soon we will start getting results, My Lord,” said the doctor as he came up from behind. “Where is it?” “It?” “The Elf,”
