# Chapter 7 – Maturity in Disguise

Rudra: After many months of the drama, my parents came to my room and said that,

We get why you're pissed and what is going on in your mind and in your life,

As parents, we would never think badly of you, but what you’re asking cannot be given.

We have decided to get you married.

Either you choose the bride and accept your family or you can go on with your love but

Don’t ever come back and try to contact us. You can walk through the door and no one will stop you.

I hardly cry but that day tears rolled down my eyes.

What did I even do to face this situation?

While all I was asking was to spend the future with my love

I said, give me some time.

They say you don’t have much time, make a decision as fast as you can.

That was such a period of mental stress. Suddenly, all the problems struck at once.

Work pressure, family pressure, love life was almost over.

Didn’t know what my future would be,

The icing on the cake was that business started to fall, which even led to financial stress.

Everybody thinks that a boy’s life is so easy.

They just have to work and live peacefully.

They get everything they ask for.

Hardly anyone knows that.

We have to deal with family pressures,

Take up the family responsibility,

Have a peaceful marriage,

Look after our kids and wife,

Dealing with your own love problems,

Start working,

Dealing with the work pressures,

Be a good son,

See that, because of you, your family doesn’t get a bad name.

Most of our life gets done by convincing people only.

Somewhere in the middle of all this we end up killing our own dreams just in order to live up to the expectations of people and society.

they are only buried or turned into ashes when they stop breathing."

Me: A complete fact my friend, we boys live others' dreams and spend our lives and our problems still stand nowhere in society today. It just goes unnoticed.

Rudra: In Maya’s home, her family had told her that if you want to walk out with the guy then it’s OK.

When you do it please walk through our corpses.

She couldn’t bear it.

She was put in the same situation as me.

How can we decide between two things as both have their own importance? It was a choice that would only destroy us,

So, how will we decide a choice which will harm us anyway.

It’s like a choice between two sharp knives. One is very sharp and the other one is little less sharp than the first one. In the end, both will be used for stabbing and they will only cause pain.

Me: Whether it’s a sharp knife or a less sharp knife, In the end you will die anyway.

Rudra: We used to talk daily,

We hardly talked to each other after the drama in our houses.

Both of us tried to increase our work shifts but it never helped. We decided to meet one day,

All the excitement was gone.

It was never the same way as it used to be.

I took her to my friend’s place.

So, I asked her then what’s your decision?

Maya: It’s not great news.

Rudra: Neither is mine.

I wouldn’t be able to betray my family.

We both say at the same time, Complete Silence in the room.

I stood up and went to the balcony and was staring at the clouds for no reason. I knew it had ended.

She comes running towards me and hugs me from the back and I turn around and we still hug each other,

We both started crying.

We didn’t leave each other for like five minutes.

I didn’t want it to end this way.

I made her sit on the couch and gave her a keychain I had made which had written Rudra weds Maya in a heart symbol.

I gave her that and said it doesn’t mean anything now.

I couldn’t throw it but you can do anything with it.

I said,

Genes won; love lost.

Me: That line is enough to understand how feelings are crushed in our society.

Rudra: Though I may be someone’s husband from now.

You will ever and always be my soulmate throughout the time I live this life.

Will definitely come to see you one day.

She caught my hand and started crying again and refused to let me go.

I kissed her very lovingly for the very last time,

We just didn’t want to stop.

After that she says,

Maya: Love, you will always be my husband...!

Once in life, I definitely wish to see you again.

Rudra: One day I’ll definitely come to see you.

Maya: Would you not drop me today?

Rudra: Not that courageous today.
