Unforgivable

1582 Words
I told Harry, Ron and Hermione about what Draco Malfoy did to me that day. They seemed to be as frustrated as I was. What he did was unforgivable. I wasn't in the mood for anything. I didn't want to eat, I didn't want to go to class. No matter how much Hermione bothered me about it, I still did not want to go. If I was to go anywhere, however, the guilt of not taking care of my mother's wand would be taken with me. The Christmas holiday was coming soon, and I did not want to go home. I can't face my mother. I could only imagine the sorrowful expression she'd give me. It was like throwing away our last possession of my father's. I was speaking to Madam Hooch about a catch-up lesson, when she looked past my shoulder. Confused, I turned my head to where she was looking. Standing there, was Malfoy. "Oh, it looks like someone is here to talk to you. Well, I'll see you later in the afternoon, Autumn. Until then." she nods her head before flying off, leaving me to stand their on my own. Now knowing that Malfoy was behind me, I continued to walk forward, as if I never knew. I did not wish to speak to him, especially after what he's done. I heard him call my name twice, the sound of his footsteps nearing. He must have picked up his pace. I decided to run towards the courtyard, hoping he'd give up anytime soon. I wasn't the fastest runner, but I knew I could run long enough to lose someone. But he, somehow, managed to keep up. "Listen, I just want to talk." he says, my back still facing him. If we were going to talk, I didn't need to see him. Before I responded, I made sure there was nobody around to hear us. "What is it that you want from me?!" I almost screamed, "I left you alone after that gum incident, so why don't you just leave me alone, already? What did I do that to as so wrong?" I slightly turned my head, "It was fine when you teased me, and started calling me Mud-blood. But breaking my wand? What good would you ever get out of that?" He stood there, mouth agape. He didn't look like he expected that. I felt the tears brimming in my eyes. I couldn't control it; the thought of my parents came back into my mind. I swore I'd take good care of the wand. I promised, and I broke much more than the promise. "Harry told me about your wand," he said quietly, "And I'm sorryㅡ" "An apology isn't going to fix anything, especially not the wand. Just leave me alone." I turned away completely, heading back to my room. I shouldn't have yelled. I shouldn't have yelled at him. Draco's Point of View I didn't know how to feel. She looked so sad, I never imagined her feeling so upset over a wand until I heard the story from Potter. I thought that it would have been funny if both Rosewood and Weasley had broken wands, but I guess not. I really shouldn't have tried to prank someone I don't really know. After Rosewood yelled at me, I decided to go to the Slytherin Common Room. I definitely needed some cheering up. Maybe Crabbe and Goyle have some ideas to help me. Honestly, she didn't look like the type to yell. Girls can be so confusing... I slumped onto the lounge opposite of Crabbe, asking him for any ideas. "You could sell Harry's wand and buy her a new one." he laughed, slapping his thigh. I rolled my eyes, "Aren't you the brightest boy in Hogwarts." Although Crabbe was almost completely useless, he gave me an idea. I could replace Rosewood's wand, and then maybe she'd just forgive me. I made my way towards the library, hoping to find Granger. Maybe she could help me. After all, she was one of Rosewood's friends. Weasley and Potter would be of no help. They'd just stir up another argument with me and everything would just end in embarrassment. I quietly step into the silent room, walking between the aisles in search of the girl. I heard from others that the study freak spends most of her time in the library, especially in the section about spells and charms. I finally find her in one of the corners, reading a large book. I needed to clear my throat to get her attention. "And what do you want?" she asked, frowning slightly. I calmed myself a bit. "Your help, actually." She crossed her arms. She probably wanted me to explain more. I let out a sigh, whispering, "I want to replace Rosewood's wand. Any idea where I could buy her a new one?" Granger looked slightly pleased with my request. Slightly, and that was what worried me. How rare could her wand be? "You can't just buy the wand, Malfoy. Her wand is a rare wand, custom-made and designed specially." I've never felt so defeated before. I hated being in debt to someone, and I felt that way towards Rosewood. I needed to fix her wand, whatever the cost. Then, I have nothing to worry about. None of this will ruin my family's name or reputation. Except, talking to a Mud-blood may. "Isn't there a spell, or something, that can fix it?" The girl sighed, flipping through the pages of her book. "Actually, that's what I'm looking for right now. The Professor says there is, but I still haven't found it. But, Malfoy, if you truly want to make it up to Autumn, you can find the spell and cast it." I confidently smiled. It didn't seem hard at all. "I'll do it on my own. Just give her wand to Crabbe or Goyle and they'll bring it to me." As Granger stood up, I took her seat, picking up the spell book she placed down. It was a large book, but it had to be in there somewhere. If only there were a spell to find spells in spell books... * * * Third Person Autumn took her usual assigned seat in her Transfiguration class, where she'd be seated next to Draco Malfoy. Strangely, he wasn't there at all that day. Although it bothered her, Autumn tried not to think about it. It somehow made her feel slightly guilty; maybe she had made him upset for yelling the other day. "You're overthinking, Autumn." she thought to herself, "He might just be sick." "Miss Rosewood, where is your wand?" Professor McGonagall asked, scanning Autumn's desk. "I haven't replaced it yet, Professor. It kinda ....broke." Giggles and laughs filled the room, causing the Professor to hush the students. She just nodded her head, as if she were excused only for the day. Even after considering purchasing a new wand, Autumn never went through with it. It would never be the same, and buying a new wand would only increase her guilt. A broken wand wouldn't really work, either. Ron had been using a broken wand for a couple of years, and none of his charms have worked in the right way. It was later that night when Hermione shook Autumn awake. Yawning and stretching her arms, Alice sat up in her bed. "What is it, Hermione?" "I know it's not allowed, but Harry wanted to meet you at the courtyard now. He says it's urgent." Autumn checked the time, realising that it is way past their curfew. If it was urgent, she knew she could make it an exception. But why would Harry want to meet in the courtyard? How private would their conversation have to be? Autumn rushed down the stairs, finally arriving at the courtyard. Her eyes widen in shock when she saw Draco standing there instead. It was in that moment when she realised that all of this had probably been planned, and Hermione had been a part of it. Draco was holding a wooden box in his hand, his eyes expressing his tiredness. "Hey, I know that I shouldn't have done it... I didn't realise how important your wand was to you..." he started, letting out an awkward cough after the brief silence. Autumn shrugged, "It's alright... I mean, sure, I'm upset about it and I hate you for doing it... But I really shouldn't have yelled. Sorry..." "But, uh, A-Autumn," he said her name so awkwardly, it was as if he were speaking to someone he was afraid of. "That's why I did this for you." He started taking steps closer to the confused girl, holding out the wooden box to her. Still confused, she took it from him, slowing lifting the lid. She didn't know whether it was a prank or not. When she recognised the object inside the wooden box, without thinking, she threw her arms around the blonde boy. Surprising herself and Draco, she awkwardly pulls away after a couple of seconds. Opening the box properly, she tucked loose strands of hair behind her ear. Her wand was now completely fixed. "Malfoy.... How did you....?" She couldn't believe it. Even Hermione couldn't find the spell to mend a broken wand. "Thank you." Draco smiled, extending his hand out to her. "I was hoping we could start new. Be friends, even." Autumn smiled, taking his hand. "I'd like that, Draco. I'd really like that."
