Tsul 'Kalu

Blair stood easy, hiding somewhat behind a tree, Wolfe just finished his shift into a werewolf and was grunting profoundly, but showed no signs of rage, or mindlessness.

"Wolfe?" She asked semi dipping behind the tree.

He looked up at her, then grunted again "I, I can see through the rage... I have control, this is, amazing!" He said standing up.

"Thank goodness" She said coming out of hiding, but he chuckled.

"You know, being what you are, why hide?"

"I didn't want to risk having to kill you" She smiled.

"Well, I, I'm glad it's over, glad for Jeremy, is this what they consider a dream come true?" He asked but his ears rose.

"What do you hear?" She asked seeing his eyes dart into the distance.

"A, maddened scream, someone is mindlessly, screaming, and he's coming closer" Wolfe said standing ready.

Blair also started hearing it "He's, he's really shrieking, what could possibly make someone scream at full lung like that?"

"I don't know, but I don't like it" Wolfe said snarling.

Blair stood one side allowing Wolfe to stand in front, the screams approached.

"Doesn't his breath get short!? How can he keep that screaming up!?" Blair said feeling a tad of uneasiness in her chest.

"Here he comes! It's! Jeremy!?" Wolfe said lowering his claws.

"Jeremy!?"

"Hey!? Jerry!? What's wrong man!? Is Boone chasing you!?" Wolfe yelled but Jeremy tripped and fell, losing for a split second control over to knife sending it flying into the foliage.

'Something is wrong here!' Maikah said as they watched him crazily search for the knife, when he had it his screams elevated again, his bewildered eyes came up to Blair and he charged.

'He's possessed! Be careful Blair!'

Blair leapt and found a foothold in a high branch of a tree.

"Jeremy!?" Wolfe roared but the possessed boy charged right past him to the tree Blair was in and started climbing.

"He's possessed Wolfe! But I don't know by what!" Blair called jumping to another tree.

Jeremy finally went silent, he descended the tree and when down he screamed again running to the next, leapt up and climbed.

"f**k this!" Wolfe reached up and grabbed Jeremy by his shirt, yanking him down he took a deep breath and roared in Jeremy's face, this seems to have snapped him to.

"Wh? Ho! A f*****g werewolf!"

Blair landed next to them "It's Wolfe! Relax Jeremy it's your friend!"

Jeremy shook his head then looked at his knife "What!? What am I doing here!? I was on my what to town, then suddenly...?"

"Suddenly what?" Blair asked.

"I heard this whisper, telling me to kill you" Jeremy looked at Blair.

"Did you see anything?" Wolfe asked but Jeremy couldn't understand his growls, it only made him flinch.

"He asked if you saw something?" Blair translated.

"I, saw these glowing red eyes, and then, I felt like slipping into a dream, I had no control over myself!"

'It's the Tsul 'Kalu!' Maikah said but Blair couldn't even ask "what?" When he shook again and lifted the knife.

With a scream he brought it down on Blair but she was out of it's way.

"Jeremy!" Wolfe yelled.

'Him...! Too...!'

They all heard the whisper, Jeremy turned and with an accurate jab had the knife into Wolfe's windpipe.

Wolfe gurgled and swung striking Jeremy away with force, the boy tumbled a few yards then was up again.

"Wolfe!?" Blair screamed "Maikah what do I do!?"

'Its incurable the only way to rid him of the possession is to kill the Tsul 'Kalu, but you are not ready for him yet'

"Why!?"

'He's known by humans as the Cherokee devil, he has unexplained powers Blair, if he manages to possess you it will be tragic!' Maikah said in panic 'You need to flee Blair! It is not safe here!'

"But!? What about Jeremy?"

'It's unfortunate, but you have to leave him, run! Take Wolfe with you and flee!'

Blair watched Wolfe face his bewitched friend, the wound in his throat already healed up.

"Wolfe! We have to run!"

"What!?"

"He's possessed by a creature I cannot deal with now! Run!" She twisted, shifted into her wolf form and darted into the night.

Wolfe looked at Jeremy who widened his eyes at the sight of Blair retreating then charged after her, Wolfe felt he had no choice, he drew a fist back and struck Jeremy as hard as he could, the boy flew clear over a holler and crashed head first into a tree, knocking him out.

"Sorry Jerry" He sighed and ran off after Blair.

When Wolfe finally caught up with her he saw terror in her eyes.

"Blair!? What was that!?"

She glanced at him in the run "Maikah called it the Tsul 'Kalu!"

"Tsul 'Kalu!? That's the Cherokee devil!"

"You know it!?"

"I heard stories! Slant-eyed or Sloping giant, something to do with hunting rituals and so forth!?"

"I'm not sure, this is the first time I heard of it, and Wolfe..." She looked at him "I'm scared"

He felt a knot in his throat, 'She!? Scared!?' Unheard of! Being what she is Wolfe thought she's not afraid of anything!

"I, don't know how to comfort you" He said straightforward "But let's get out of here for now, we get to a safe area, then calmly figure this out"

She nodded and sped up, luckily Wolfe could keep up in his werewolf form, they crossed a road in a flash then stopped on the other side.

'It should be safe here, go in deeper' Maikah said.

Blaire trotted deep into the woods then turned back to Wolfe "I'm sorry I dragged you into this"

"I'd rather do this than die, to tell you the truth, I'm not as ready for death as Jeremy was" He answered scanning with his ears.

"What now Maikah?" Blair asked.

'I'm afraid this is where we should part dear Blair'

"What? Why?"

'When I'm in the Astral plains, I can figure out which of these creatures leaves there, I had no idea the Tsul 'Kalu escaped'

Blair saw a bright purple light surround her then an entity rose out of her the form of a wolf, it was ghostlike but seemed more beautiful than scary.

"What the hell!?" Wolfe said shocked.

"Dear Wolfe, I am Maikah, I wanted to thank you for being there for Blair" She said and looked at the girl, also lost for words.

"I will come into contact with you during the hunters moon Blair, that's what we call the full moon, then I can inform you of the creatures that escaped, until then tread carefully, you are wise, and smart, you will be ok" Maikah said and vanished.
