KAI POV I woke up with my back screaming in protest from sleeping on the hallway floor, but I didn't care. Luna had opened the door at dawn, seen me there, and smiled so bright it made every ache worth it. She'd crawled into my lap without hesitation and whispered, "You stayed. I knew you would." Yeah, I was definitely keeping that promise every night if she wanted me to. Now it was late afternoon and I was following Elara through the woods on Thornwood's eastern border, trying not to stare at her too obviously.
