I woke up to pain and the smell of forest and blood, and for one horrible second I thought I was back three years ago, pregnant and dying in the woods after Kai rejected me. Then I felt small hands on my face and heard Luna's voice.
"Mommy, wake up. Please wake up. The bad man is still here."
My eyes snapped open. Luna and Aiden were huddled beside me, both crying. We were in a forest clearing I didn't recognize. My shoulder burned where something had bitten me. And standing twenty feet away was Gamma Rick, along with four other wolves I vaguely recognized from Thornwood.
The sedative. They'd drugged me. Taken us from the Luna suite. And now we were somewhere in the middle of nowhere with wolves who wanted us dead.
