A Love Letter In The Rain

325 Words
Lena always believed that love found people in unexpected ways. But she never thought it would come to her through the wind. She lived in a small coastal town where the sea breeze carried secrets and the sunsets painted the sky in warm hues. Every evening, she walked along the shore, letting the waves kiss her feet and the salty air fill her lungs. It was her favorite part of the day—until one evening, something changed. A piece of paper danced in the wind, catching on her ankle. Curious, she picked it up and found words scrawled in delicate handwriting: "I hope someone kind finds this. I don’t know if you believe in fate, but if you do… maybe this letter was meant for you." Her heart fluttered as she read on. The writer spoke of lonely walks, dreams of love, and a longing to meet someone who understood the quiet beauty of life. There was no name, only an invitation: "If this letter finds the right person, leave a reply here, under the old lighthouse." That night, Lena couldn’t sleep. The words felt like they were written for her. The next evening, she walked to the lighthouse, her own letter in hand. She placed it under a loose stone and walked away, her heart racing. Days passed. Each evening, she found another letter, and each time, she left one in return. Slowly, through ink and paper, she fell for a stranger she had never seen. Then, one evening, as the sun melted into the sea, she arrived at the lighthouse and found no letter—only a single red rose resting atop the stone. Her breath caught as footsteps approached. A man stood there, holding another rose, his eyes filled with the same wonder she felt. “I hoped it was you,” he said softly. And in that golden moment, as the wind carried their unspoken words, love finally found them.
