Kaitlin's POV

it is getting close to my birthday which unfortunately falls on the same day as our packs mating ball this year ( honestly I think mom did it on purpose). I cannot wait to get my wolf - hopefully this year as we will be 19 and it's tough being a wolfless Alpha female. Kyle got his at 18 but I didn't even though we are twins. Today, like pretty much every other day, even though we are Alphas we are headed for more training, but I am feeling like the current hand to hand training is not everything I need and want more. I have been feeling this way for a while now, like something is just missing. Kyle says I am being restless because of not having a wolf, but I think there is more to it. Our mom, Virginia, thinks I should start helping with the Luna duties especially since my brother does not have his mate yet and she says it will "prepare me for when I get my mate." I guess I should explain, our father Arthur was killed by rouges right after we turned 18 and Mom has been running the pack with the Elders Kyles help as she was born the daughter of the previous pack leader and grandpa Art has sort of stepped in as well till Kyle is ready. I think it's because I don't care about finding my mate but would rather train and be ready in case of an attack that I have been avoiding helping with the Luna stuff.

Either way we are almost 2 days to the full moon and the mating ball we are hosting. I could care less but everyone else is looking forward to it! Our alliances with the lycans and the dragons will be bringing several of the alphas and their warriors to our pack, which in itself will be interesting since most will be staying in the training grounds in tents, but my grandpa Art and my brother think everyone will be fine, they stayed that way other places for their mating balls and of course pack house will hold all the Sr. Alphas etc. My mother, Peggy, has been preparing the ballroom and has banners on our pack colors, purple and black, strung along with other decorations. The Omegas have been working to get all the decorations done so all is ready.

I finish my afternoon training and head back to the pack house with my best friend Dawn, She is ready for the ball to get here but about my birthday too and we are to spend a good part of tomm shopping "just in case one of finds our mate" she says. The Moon Goddess only knows what she is planning. I head in the pack house and up to my room, I am ready to take a shower before family dinner, we don't always eat with the rest of the people in the pack house, and with the ball coming tonight is one of those exceptions. I take my shower and dress in a nice silver dress that highlights my dark long curly hair and head to the family private dining area. Upon my arrival, Mom and Grandpa are there and Kyle shortly enters. Everything starts with an amazing appetizer and then conversation which immediately goes to Kyle and I need to find our mates......okay mom it's easier said than done! Kyle has attended every mating ball for the last year in allied packs and nothing, and I have yet to meet mine but I was allowed to skip the balls as my wolf has not appeared. Kyle mentions that the Lycan Kings son, Austin will be arriving tomorrow as well as the Dragon Kings son Travis. Also the Lycan Princess Emily plans to attend as she has just had her 18th birthday. My brother rolls his eyes that Emily is coming as he has always looked at her as a spoiled princess brat, me I privately think that Travis is a playboy and he will be all over any wolf that would have him. Travis and Austin have been my brother's friends for years as all of our fathers knew each other so we pretty much grew up together. Although, Lycans tend to look down on everyone else Austin has always been a lot of fun and like another brother, where Travis has always been a pain in the a**. Always teasing, making stupid comments, and flirting with every girl around. My brother and his friends don't really include me now that we are older, so I am glad that I have Dawn and my other friend Gigi. They both have their wolves now. Dawns is a beautiful Carmel color and Gigi is reddish like her hair.

Anyway, dinner goes on and when we are done I excuse myself because I know tomorrow is going to be a crazy day, and I still haven't figured out what I am wearing, my hair etc. sometimes it tough being more of a tom boy.

As I lay on my bed reading, I eventually fall asleep, but immediately the same strange dream comes to me. There is this beautiful lady with long shiny silver hair and she is in the middle of a field. She has the most beautiful black wolf with her that I have seen. Eventually she comes over to me and takes my hand and her and I, and the wolf, walk to the nearby lake. She motions for me to look into the lake and then asks me what I see. As I look at my response, after a few minutes, is "only my reflection.". She shakes her head and lets out a tiny chuckle saying "my dear girl there is so much more there for you to see, but it will come in time, you are more special than you know and may have a difficult path but you are not alone.". I look at the water again, and all I see is my reflection and that of the wolf. As has become normal, after this I wake up, use the bathroom, and when I fall back asleep the rest of the night is quiet. I wish I could figure this out, it's quite frustrating.

it's the next morning and I get a text from Dawn to be in front of the pack house at 9am we are going to the mall in the human world to go shopping. As always Gigi will be there, so much for training today I take my shower put on a pair of jeans and a red sweater and a little light makeup and head downstairs for breakfast before we to the front for the shopping trip. When I get there I am happy to see that my brother's friends are not here yet, grab myself some waffles and bacon and enjoy my breakfast in peace. After breakfast I went to meet the girls and we got one of the pack cars and driver, after Dad's attack I cannot leave without 2 warriors and a driver, but at least my mom agreed for female warriors for the trip so we just look like a group of girls shopping.

It's an uneventful ride to the human town about an hour away. Dawn keeps talking about Brad, her warrior mate. Thank goodness she found someone in our pack, I would be lost without her. Dawn says, finally, " so we are starting with finding you the perfect dress, then shoes, hair, jewelry.....be ready, I knew if I told you up front that you never would have come.". I roll my eyes, because I know she is right, but I will play along for today, as I chuckle to myself.
