Betrayal

"How many hours left before we reach the sacred river, John?" Rey asked a young but well-built boy with strong muscles beside him. He watches as the boy brings out a map from his left side pocket. After studying it for a few seconds, he finally responded. "Just a little bit further, my lord," John answered. "According to the map here with me, we just had some miles left to cover." "I just hope we get a clue to where the amulet's stealer might go." Rey replied casually, before he got engulfed in his imaginary world again. "Just a few hours of becoming an Alpha, everything is already going worse," he mumbled under his breath. "I wonder how my dad used to cope." "Everything will be fine my lord," a voice speaks beside him. "You should have stayed at home, and been recovering from your injury". "You can't understand what I am going through, Eden.," Rey uttered, frustratedly. "I guess I am the worst leader after all." "You can't blame yourself," Eden replied. "Your father would even be proud of you". "All my life, I had never thought I could become a leader," Rey utters sadly as his mind automatically goes back to the scene when he heard his father died so he could revive him. "I will make them pay. All of them, they will pay with their life." Rey used his back hand to wipe the tear from his eyes. "I am sure your father made a good decision." Another man said beside him. "By sacrificing his life for mine, was it even worth it?" Rey elucidated sadly. "Ruling isn't my thing. I am sure my sister would make a great queen, or what did you think of Eden?" "But your sister isn't the alpha." Another being chirped in. "But she is a Tri-hybrid, Coven." Rey counter. "I am sure she will make a good queen, especially with the help of her wolf." Rey could hear a loud gasp from the 4 men beside him and couldn't help but wonder what caused it. "I'd rather serve you forever rather than allowing your sister and her crazy wolf to judge us." Eden utters in fear. "But she isn't as bad as you all think," Rey defended her sister. "She is more crazy than you can ever imagine," Eden utters. "I can remember the day when I was hunting in my wolf form. Your sister's wolf chased me till dawn. I was fortunate to meet the alpha on my run. If not, I am damn sure that I would still be on the run till now." "Why would her wolf chase you?" Rey asked amidst laughter. "She said I was hunting on her wolf's field." Eden elucidated. "I have once walked n***d in broad daylight because of your sister's wolf." John chirped in. While both Coven and Conor bellowed at the same time. "I could remember a day when your sister punished us clearly. Her wolf shows us her wrath that fateful day, all because we are filthy with another man's mate when ours is out there." Rey couldn't help but laugh out loud now. "I guess she has done crazier things than I ever imagined." "Not only that, she has once scattered the whole library and all in the name of searching for a book which doesn't exist," Eden elucidated. "It took Beta Adrian and a few other people 3 days before they could arrange everything back into order again." Conor utters. Rey could swear that he enjoyed the guys' company, and they are cool to be with. "Maybe ruling sometimes isn't a bad idea after all." Rey utters with a shrug. "Over here" John's voice interrupts the funny moments. Lying down beside the sacred river is a young boy at the verge of dying, with a rapier struck in his stomach. Rey and the men rush closer to the scene and they are shocked to the bone. Right in front of them, is the young servant that informed them that the shield is down. "Who did this?" Conor asked with gritted teeth. "Cain my lord." The servant managed to reply. "Water," he demanded. Without hesitation, Eden handed him a bottle of water. Rey received the water, and placed it in the servant's mouth while they all watched as he gulped it down as if his life depended on it. "I am dying, my lord," the servant whispered in a laboured breath. "Let me tell you a secret." "No, you have to get well soon." Rey argues, but the servant shakes his head in disapproval. "It is important, my Lord." The servant's voice comes out in a whisper. His breathing is now becoming heavier as he struggles to take in air. "Haggai, she is the one that ordered the amulet to be stolen." "How did you know?" Rey asked in shock. He couldn't believe that the healer was the cause of everything. "My lord," the servant's voice comes out in a whisper. "She is a god penius spy. They are on their way to the gods' temple now, my lord. And lastly, your enemy is within." The servant concluded, then he brought out a shining compass from his pocket and gave it to Rey. At first, he was reluctant to collect it. But the servant resists, which leaves him with no choice. "It will lead you to your destination," the servant concluded, before breathing his last breath. "Nooo," Rey screamed out in pain and terror. "They will pay dearly. With their lives and loved ones. They shall regret ever messing with the wrong Alpha." As if nature sensed his grief. Thunder strikes in the sky, while lightning flashes across the whole place. With a heavy heart, Rey stood up. "Bury the body." He bellowed in a melancholy and orderly tone, while his men quickly got down to work. Now there are many thoughts running across his mind. Like, how could the servant get here ahead of him? Who else is the enemy within? Why did Cain and healer Haggai betray the pack? Then a thought struck his mind. Adrian had spent all his entire life in the library. He had access to the whole pack house map, not excluding the secret passage in and out of the whole place. Could it be that Adrian intentionally directed them through the wrong route, so he could have wasted their time while Thanatos attacked the pack house again, or did he have another motive? He wasn't even sure that Adrian could be the betrayal, because he had saved his father's life more than twice. "Everything is possible," he heard a voice speak in his head. A voice he couldn't forget all his entire life, his father's voice. "How could that be possible?" He asked mentally. "Don't forget I gave my life and power to you. So, my spirit lives in you while my body is dead." "Wow," Rey uttered in disbelief. His father cut him short. "We have little to no time left," he said. "Adrian is the traitor within the pack house. He intentionally gives access to Demios by ordering Cain to steal the amulet." "How did you know?" Rey asked. "I knew from the beginning, but I never knew he had a supporter. Adrian intentionally gives me access to read his mind, which makes me think I can counter all his attacks. But he had an ally right in the pack." "We know their ally now." Rey yelled. "Haggai, the healer and omega Cain was his ally and I will make them pay after I retrieve the ring." "Don't forget, Haggai is just a spy." His father cut him short. "There is a main villain amidst you. And that is for you to find out." To be determined. Do not imitate. The year 2021
