The Black Forest's Beta

Chapter 10

My heart thudded and I acted on fear, not for me, but for my mate as that thing attempted to kill him. I jumped from the car and flung myself onto the rogue, I heard Beta Raphael get up and growl, more rogues came over to aid in killing him. “He is MINE.” I growled as I choked the life out of the first rogue who dared try taking my mate from me. It began coughing and swaying as the oxygen it depended on for survival was cut. It fell, I stayed latched onto the nasty creature until I no longer felt it moving. I let go and got up, ready to go to my mate. 

I heard it snarl from behind me, it only pretended to pass out, my heart thudded as I tried to re-strangle the rogue, but it turned on me. It didn’t get the chance to bite seeing as Beta Raphael ripped it away before tearing it in half. I saw the intestines fall to the ground with a shower of blood. I jumped up and ran to my mate, he snarled as I evaded his arms and checked his fully healed back. 

He turned to me and growled in a condescending manner before placing me back in the car with his wolfy hands. “Emma! You could have gotten hurt!” Ozzy growled. I shielded my eyes as the sun glared through the windshield. 

“That thing was going to kill my mate.” I growled with a whimper. A sudden howl rang through the air, the sun was too blinding for me to see what was happening but I figured it out when the trunk opened and Tobias, who was covered in blood began grabbing clothes. I saw my mate’s beast shape grab a pair before he shifted into his human shape. He came back to the ripped off door and grabbed me as I jumped into his arms. 

“Are you alright miele?” I nodded and he set me down on the seat so he could look at my injured calf. It was no longer bleeding, but the wounds were still open. “I can’t wait until you have your wolf.” He grumbled as he looked at Gisela. 

“This is Gisela, Gisela this is my mate and Dark-moon’s Beta, Raphael.” I said looking at her. 

“Raphael!” I looked at Alpha Gunter and Beta Elias as they came over, Alpha Gunter’s eyes became dark as he began sniffing the air. “What the hell happened?” Gamma Elias asked looking at the door of the car that was laying on the ground. 

“A rogue broke into the car and attacked Emmaline and Ozzy.” Gamma Elias and Alpha Gunter frowned. “I got here in time, they’re both fine.” They released a tense breath as Beta Raphael ran a hand through his hair. His dark eyes clouded over as did theirs as they spoke in a mind link. 

“You have a brave mate.” Gamma Elias said once their eyes cleared. 

“One more thing.” My mate said with a sigh. “The wolf Emmaline pulled out of the woods,” They nodded as he paused. “Is an Omega, my little mate has made the decision to bring her home with us.” Keifer chuckled as he came to the car following Tobias. 

“Where is she?” Alpha Gunter asked, my mate moved away as he came closer, his eyes darkening once again, his nose flaring. He came to the open space and looked past me, right at Gisela. “Mate.” He growled deeply as he looked at her. 

I turned to face Gisela who was watching him with dark eyes. Realizing I was in the way I climbed over the seat and sat with Ozzy who chuckled at me. Alpha Gunter slid into the car and got right next to Gisela who tensed and leaned away from him. He looked hurt at the way she reacted to him. “Tell me your name kleiner(little one-german.)”

“Gisela.” She said very shyly. 

“I am Alpha Gunter, you my dear can call me Gunter.” She gave him a weak smile as she looked at me for help. “You were right Emma, Gisela will be coming home with us.” I smiled, and he slid out of the car. “I’m going to get us two new cars.” He said looking at Elias. “Come with me Raphael.” My mate nodded as I climbed back over the seat, Ozzy followed, he was the only one who came out of this fray with clean clothes, but I was okay with that. 

“Are you ready to go home with us?” I asked her, she shook her head as a few tears left her eyes. 

“I don’t know how to be a Luna, what if his pack hates me?” She said voicing the fears that were also inside of me. I didn’t know how to be a beta female and I was terrified the Dark-moon pack would see how weak I was and beat me for it. 

I didn’t know what to say to Gisela so I pulled her body into mine, she jumped but soon returned the hug which Ozzy decided to join. I smiled as I felt his head rest on the back of my shoulder. “You’ll both be great. I don’t see why either of you worry.” He said lightly as he rubbed his face into my clothes. “I love you Emma.”

“I love you too Ozzy.” 

“Ozzy is a very unique name no?” Gisela said, making him and I chuckle. I let Ozzy explain how he got his name seeing as talking about our sister filled me with pain, betrayal and anger. “That is probably ze cutest way to get a name.” She said with a giggle. “How did you get ze name Emmaline?” 

“I don’t know, I never asked.” I said shrugging my shoulders. 

“Come on guys, Alpha Gunter and Beta Raphael found some vehicles.” Gamma Elias said looking at us from where the door had been. We all got out and followed him to our mates. Tobais and Keifer walked behind us, both of them scanning the visible area for threats. 

“Gisela!” We looked at a woman with blonde hair and blue eyes as she came around the house in a robe. Her hair was a mess as she glared at my new Luna. “What are you doing? You were supposed to draw my bath.” I growled at the woman and the manner she was speaking to my Luna. She turned her glare to me and sneered. “And who is this rabid mutt?” Gilela and I covered out ears when a very angry and powerful snarl tore itself from Beta Raphael’s throat. 

“Luna Harriet, Gisela is my mate, and Emmaline is Beta Raphael’s, you better watch how you speak about them.” Alpha Gunter said, his voice made me shiver. It was like he was sending a thousand silver knives at her in the tone of his voice. 

“Apologies Alpha Gunter.” She said glaring at the ground. “Gisela is to stay here, she is my personal omega.” I found myself and Beta Raphael growling again. 

“She is our Luna now, so f**k off.” My mate spoke in a warning tone that she shrugged away. 

“What is going on here?” Another large male said as he walked over with a glare. “Alpha Gunter, why is Gisela with you? She is my mate’s personal omega, brought here with Harriet from France.”

“Luna Gisela.” I told him, his dark green eyes found my grey ones as Beta Raphael moved and stood at my side. 

“Excuse me?” He growled. 

“Luna Gisela, she is my mate Alpha Lucianno.” Alpha Gunter said repeating my words. “You don’t plan on taking my mate away from me do you?” The question itself had a bone chilling tone, making me shudder once again. 

“Of course not Alpha Gunter, it would be wrong of us to deprive you of your mate.” I really wanted to go home now, the way these wolves were gathering around us made my stomach churn. I shifted uncomfortably and my mate put his arm around the back of my waist. The mate bond did its job and calmed me down. After an intense silence Beta Raphael and Gunter placed, Gisela, Ozzy and I in the backseat of a small car. They got in the front two seats while Gamma Elias, Tobias and Keifer got in the other car. I found myself relaxing after we passed their pack border. 

“You doing alright miele?” Raphael asked from the driver’s seat.

“Better now, will you teach me how to drive?” I asked, I was sitting in the middle so I leaned forward between the two large men so I could watch even if he said no. 

“Of course, but not until you fill out. If you hit a mailbox you’ll probably end up breaking something.” I glared at him and huffed as I sat back. 

“I didn’t break anything when I jumped on the rogue.” I huffed as I pouted. 

“Yeah.” I regretted bringing it up when his jaw clenched and his grip on the wheel tightened. “Never do that again Emmaline, you could have gotten killed.”

“That thing was gonna kill you though.” I said defiantly as I leaned forward once again. “I wasn’t about to let that happen.”

“I would have been alright.” He said with with a small smirk on his face. 

"Or you could have been killed, I would prefer the option where you make it out alive. You still have to show Ozzy and I the rest of the Harry Potter movies, and you have to meet Cassie." His smirk turned into a small smile as he reached back with his left hand and took my right. 

"I do have quite a bit of work left to do." He said with a sigh, that small smile still on his face.

"That you do." Alpha Gunter said from my left side. I looked up at him with a small smile before sliding backward into the seat I was supposed to be in. My hand left Beta Raphael's and he placed his elbow on the console I had been leaning on. "You were very brave today Emma, not only did you defend your mate. You also ran into the woods for another wolf you didn't know. You also stood against an Alpha and Luna to defend her today, and neither of you have been officially added to the pack. You were born for the role of Beta female, and you are already doing a stupendous job of filling that role." 

"Thank you Alpha Gunter." I said as I took Gisela's right hand in my left. 

"Told you so." Ozzy whispered in my right ear as he sat behind Beta Raphael, his breath tickled my ear making me giggle. I kissed his cheek and sighed happily. I felt Cassie stir in the back of my head, my spirits were lowered as I looked into my head at her. She looked so weak and dull compared to when I saw her last. 

(We have to shift soon Emmaline. If we don't I'm afraid I won’t last.) I nodded at her and pulled myself back to the car. I must have used some of her strength to fight the rogue, I rested on Ozzy and closed my eyes as I lent her some of my strength. It was dangerous, lending human strength to your wolf. If a human takes strength from their wolf it usually isn't a big deal, but seeing as Cassie was already weak, it put her life in jeopardy. However a wolf drawing on the strength of their human is rare, the wolf is three times stronger than the human, therefore they needed three times the energy the human did, meaning I would make myself incredibly weak as I saved her. I watched her brighten a bit as I began growing tired myself. 

'I'll make sure you're safe Cassie.' I told her as I fell asleep.
