How long have I been down here? How much longer would I remain?
Laying on the cold concrete floor of the basement, I wondered if it was morning, afternoon, or night. The only light that protruded through the room came from the ceiling light that could only be switch on when he entered. It’s been a while since he came down. Silence surrounded me constantly, pulling at my discomfort and anguish. The walls were lined with a specialized sound absorbent padding so no one could hear the crack of his whip against my back. Or the gut-curdling scream I surrendered to when the last strike left me unconscious days ago.
