“It’s essentially an apartment up there. Four to the floor, and each with a bedroom, bathroom, and a sitting room s***h office. Laundry facilities here on the first floor. Third floor is for Noah and Bane, fourth for Lucius, Kellen, Brinley and I with our offices. The rooms have ample closet space, and tomorrow you can go into town and get some clothes, or we’ll see about an Omega going for you with sizes and such. Breakfast is served in the dinning room down the hall, where only the house residents eat, this is at six in the morning. We can have yours delivered to your room while you’re still recovering and recuperating. You’re hereby under the protection of Blood Raven.” Don was very insistent, and I really didn’t see why mom was hesitating on accepting it.
“A-are you sure? We’re still rogues. And if he notices we didn’t burn, he will come looking.” Mom said.
“No need. The Lunar Festival of the Alphas is next weekend and I plan to announce your residency here. And Blood Raven’s declaration of war on Crimson Summit should they come within 75 miles of pack grounds.” Don stated so matter of fact, without skipping a beat. This man has already made up his mind. Within an hours’ time, decided there was to be a war over this.
“Hell yeah!” Bane threw his fist into the air.
“What?!” Mom yelled in response.
“Don’t what me Miranda. That’s a disgusting man, a disgusting Alpha, that pack will suffer further under his reign. You and Blair were innocent. Instead of blessing the Rivera’s in his family’s name as he should have, as is the law, he tried to kill you.”
“An alpha losing his mate is dangerous, but it doesn’t make them stupid, dear. There’s no need for killing innocents. Especially when Lewis paid the ultimate price for his Luna and his pack. Had he lived and she died, I’d better understand the banishment, But goddess sakes Miranda. Even as wolves, shifters, we have laws. And he broke them. We’d be fools not to declare war for the sake of our own morals now that we know the truth. While it is for the Rivera family, it is also the duty of Blood Raven to hold him responsible. We couldn’t rightfully be an Alpha and Luna couple if we let it go.” Brinley finished for him.
“You’ll be housing rogues.” Mom shook her head.
“We’ll take you in.” Lucius stood. “I’d take the title right now if it meant you guys would let us. You’re not rogues here.” I looked at him, we all did, waiting for his serious expression to waver, but it didn’t.
“Atta boy.” Bane said, giving him a fist bump. “You see, beautiful. You’re home, you’re family, and Donte ain’t shit.” He and the other two men laughed.
“Miranda, seriously, nothing will happen to you here. My name is Fredrick, and I’m the Delta here, Our men and women are loyal to our Alpha and Luna. No doubt would they be just as loyal to ones so wronged, considered to be part of the Alpha family. You still have blood here, solidifying the decision further. Please don’t think we can’t protect you as our own.” The red-haired man with a chest length beard stepped forward and spoke. “And as a Delta, I would do this for Lewis, hands down.”
“I’m Noah, Gamma. And I second all of that.” They both smiled at us, as Noah waved his hand around the room to gesture towards the others.
“Blair and Talia are marked by Callistra. They are historically more important than Don and I. You will be protected.” Brinley reached for and grasped mom’s hand.
It was quiet for a few minutes while everyone waited for mom to answer.
“So we can become members of the pack? And train?” I asked.
“Yes, of course. Live here in the pack house, train with our ranked members if you’d like.” Lucius answered.
“Can you help Talia and I learn about the mark?” Pointing to my neck.
“Absolutely. I’ll take you to the Grand Library myself at Rose Crystal Waters.” Again, no hesitation.
I looked to mom, “We’ll join as soon as possible in that case.” She gave me a small smile and nodded.
“Fantastic! Get some rest then, we’ll have the ceremony tomorrow late afternoon as well as the announcement of Crimson Summit. But in the morning, it’s to late to be working on details for that after a day like today.” Brinley clasped her hands together. “Good night ladies and gentlemen.” She got up and kissed Lucius on the cheek, moving onto her husband and patting his chest. “Proud of you today, Lucius my love.” She called over her shoulder.
“Yes, son. Way to stand up for what’s right for not just these women, but our laws as well.” Don grabbed his shoulder on the way out.
“Goodnight ladies. I better not see either of you at training tomorrow either. Or until late afternoon at the least. Rest well.” Don called to us as he joined his Luna down the hall.
“Oh Alpha, how kind of you.” Bane called out in a feminine voice, batting his eyes and placing his hand on his chest.
“Extra five miles for Bane, Fredrick!” Came Don’s voice from the stairway.
“Yes Alpha!” He answered as everyone laughed. Fredrick making his way to the door and Noah headed for the stairs as well, both waving good nights.
“Dammit…” Bane said, giving a hug to both mom and I and kissing the tops of our heads. “Night ladies.” He winked.
“I’m gonna go take advantage of those nice tubs, will you be okay?” Mom asked rubbing my shoulders.
“Yeah, I’ll be fine. I’m gonna go to the kitchen.” I smiled.
“Okay baby girl. Goodnight and sleep well. I’ll be right across the hall.” Giving me a tight hug and kissed my cheek. “Goodnight Lucius.”
“Goodnight ma’am.”
When mom was down the hall and making her way upstairs, I turned to Lucius. “Join me for dinner?” I offered.
“Sure thing, may I?” He held his arm our for me to link, and so I did with both arms.
