As the night wore on, Sydney's eyelids grew heavy, her head nodding forward as she fought to stay awake. Xander, sensing her exhaustion, gently shifted his position, allowing her to lay her head on his shoulder. As she drifted off to sleep, Xander wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. He sat there for a while, listening to the sound of her gentle breathing, feeling the warmth of her body against his. Eventually, he carefully lifted her into his arms, cradling her like a child. He carried her to her bed, gently laying her down on the soft blankets. As he pulled the covers up around her, he couldn't help but gaze at her peaceful face. Xander sat down on the edge of the bed, his eyes fixed on Sydney's serene expression. He felt a sense of wonder wash over him as he gazed at her. The moon, shining brightly through the window, seemed dull in comparison to her radiant beauty. He reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair from her face. His fingers lingered on her skin, feeling the softness of her cheek. Xander's heart skipped a beat as he took in the gentle rise and fall of her chest. Just as he was lost in the depths of her beauty, the door creaked open. Samuel stood in the doorway, his eyes scanning the room. He looked a little tense, but his expression had cooled down significantly. Xander stood up, walking over to the door. "Hey, Sam, we should head to bed. We can talk in the morning. She's fine." Samuel's eyes flicked to Sydney's sleeping form, then back to Xander. He nodded slowly, his expression softening. "Yeah, okay. Thanks, Xander." As Samuel turned to leave, Xander called out, "Hey, Sam?" Samuel turned back, his eyes questioning. Xander's voice was low and gentle. "Take care of yourself, okay?" Samuel nodded, a small smile on his face. "You too, Xander." As Samuel disappeared into the night, Xander couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. He knew that Samuel was still struggling with his emotions, and he worried about what the morning might bring. Xander turned back to Sydney, his eyes drawn to her peaceful face. He stood there for a moment, watching her sleep, feeling a sense of calm wash over him. As he gazed at her, he realized that he had never felt this way about anyone before. There was something about Sydney that drew him in, something that made him want to protect her, to care for her. Xander's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of his own heartbeat. He felt a pang of surprise, realizing that he was feeling something he hadn't felt in a long time - emotion. He took a deep breath, trying to process his feelings. As he stood there, he knew that he had to be careful. He couldn't let his emotions cloud his judgment, not when Sydney's well-being was at stake. With a quiet resolve, Xander turned and walked out of the room, leaving Sydney to her peaceful slumber. As he closed the door behind him, he knew that he would do everything in his power to protect her, to keep her safe from harm. Even if it meant keeping her away from him.
