The breakfast room was very tranquil when Esme appeared by the door. Earlier, she had heard shouting coming inside it but now the shouting had ceased and the wives were seated quietly in their chairs. Before making her presence known, she stood by the door and took to observing the room.
Kiko, for once, was not eating in order to appease her appetite. One serving had been enough for her that morning.
