Baffled by the sudden public display affection from a complete stranger (that's what it looked like to him any way), Adam jerked his hands out of Camila's. He understood that she wanted her point to come across real strong and all, but was holding his hands necessary? No, he thought that she was being way too extra. That little show she had put on would cost him a trip to the restroom, to wash the hands Camila had soiled by touching. Adam valued personal space more than anything and hated it whenever people would violate his (personal space) as he usually went out of his way not to invade other's space.
Being the poker face professional he was, Adam managed to look nonchalant, bored even with Camila's whole ordeal. He put some much needed space between the two of them, suddenly aware that the whole snack bar was watching them and just replied, "Okay," on his way out. He didn't even bother saying it to her face, to him, she was still a nobody. It just pissed him off that he had to make time out his day, precious time with his friends at that, just for her to tell him something she could have just said to him in class. So yeah, at the end of the day Camila had succeeded in making Adam feel a certain way about her, annoyance, even if just for a couple of seconds. Yes, just seconds, the dude couldn't be bothered with things like that.
Snickers filled the room as soon as Adam left. Everyone was either laughing out loud or just doing their very best not to laugh in front of her. Was she embarrassed, yes, but at least she had made her statement. Now literally everyone at school would know that her prom date was no one else but Adam. She was sure that evey single one of his admirers were bloody jealous of her, the girl that managed to get Adam despite having known him for only a single semester. She didn't care that she would be the main topic at school because her name would be brought up alongside his.
People's opinions didn't matter to her, what did was Adam's. His reaction had really caught her off guard, made her lose her confidence completely, not just a little bit. Her imaginative mindset had lead her to believe that he show her some sort of affection, you know a little smile or something like that. Anything but disgust would have made her happy, even though what Adam felt at the moment was not really disgust, it was somewhat close. She had just assumed he was disguised based on the way he had jerked his hands out of hers. Meaning she wasn't sure as his face had remained the same through out the whole 'confession' thing. She was more hurt by knowing that he didn't show a single emotion than the fact that she was embarrassed infront of the whole snack bar.
Regardless of how things had gone down, Camila was still a resident on cloud nine. Just thinking of the fact that she, and no one else other than her would be going to prom with Adam made her heart flutter. She didn't care that he was cold, distant and indifferent. All that mattered was the fact that he was going to be her date. She also didn't care whether he liked her or not, she was plenty capable of loving him enough for the both of them.
