Episode 5

This is the point where Adam's life started becoming a living hell. Camila's Dad made time out of his busy schedule to meet Adam's Dad, of course under the pretense of it being a business meeting. Both men were happy to finally see each other after who knows how many years, so they had a lot to catch up on. At some point they did discuss business, but it was only for a brief moment. Camila's Dad made the meeting all about the kids, like how they went to the same school and were even in the same class.

I don't know if he really didn't care much or was choosing to ignore it, but Adam's Dad remained nonchalant when his friend was going on and on about the kids. Personally he wasn't too involved in his son's life as Adam was a good kid. He rarely ever asked for anything and always made him and his wife proud, all the while trying not to seek attention. Adam was a bit different from his brother James, who was the company's successor in so many ways.

James had always been a bit of a handful with an overly lively personality. He would sometimes get into trouble and be caught hanging out with the wrong crowd. He was also more than a bit stubborn and never really listened (to adults specifically). James would also entertain everyone who came his way and would be fake whenever he felt the need to. In other words, the two brothers were almost the exact opposite of one another even though they looked very much alike.

Their Dad decided to make James his successor mainly because of his stubbornness and overall demeanor. He could tell that James would be able to run the company with his head, not his heart, something that Adam would most likely do (leading with his heart) because of his personality. From their Dad's perspective, Adam would make a great leader in society but not in business. Even though he looked cold and distant, his heart was always in a good place. Their dad realized this from the way he spent his allowance. Both Adam and James received the same amount but used it very differently. James would spend almost all of it the very same day he got it and would look for ways to earn some money for the rest of the month. Adam on the other hand would donate some, save the rest and also earn his monthly expenses. So yeah, in a way they were both looking for ways to be independent from their parents regardless of how different the brothers were.

Hearing Camila's Dad talk so much about his son had Adam's Dad feeling a certain way. His friend seemed to know so much about his own son that it got him wondering if the Adam they were talking about was the same one he knew. See Camila's Dad was going on and on about how the two kids (Camila and Adam) liked each other and how lovely it would be to have the two go to prom as each other's dates. Adam's Dad till that day had never heard of his son's love interest before, heck at one point he had even though that the boy was asexual. That came from what he had witnessed about Adam's behaviour when girls would throw themselves at him, cold and indifferent. So if anything he was really surprised to hear about his son's first love interest from a distant friend and not his wife instead.
