Anne eyed her rifle simulator before glancing around the blasted urban ruins. “We’re here, but you never told us the scenario. Shouldn’t there be some sort of plan? I assume this isn’t just target practice.” Smoke billowed from burning buildings and choked the sky. Toppled towers lay all around Erik, Jia, Kant, and Anne, some on top of one another. Blackened and bent flitter wrecks were strewn about the area, along with the occasional twisted exoskeleton missing an arm, leg, or even the central body. A shiver of cold ran down Jia’s spine.
