Rex (POV)
It took almost two hours to get all the injured out of the tunnels. We looked for Xavier, but he was nowhere to be found. Me, Stephan, and Malakye stayed behind to keep searching for him.
We have searched the tunnels three times now. He's not here. We even searched outside the tunnels. There is no sign of him anywhere.
"We need to head back. He's not here." I said to Stephan.
"Do you want to be the one to tell Ember that Xavier is missing?" Stephan turned to me with glossy eyes. "We have to find him. If they do anything to him," he said, trailing off.
"Why can't we mind-link with him?"
"I don't know. He has to have his bracelet on. I can't feel him. Maybe that's what's blocking the mind-link." Stephan said, looking around.
