Chapter 6: Bound by Chains

Lyra didn’t move.
She *couldn’t*.
Ronan’s words hung in the air between them, thick with dominance and finality.
*"You belong to me now, rogue."*
Her wolf bristled, torn between fury and something far more dangerous. Something that sent a shiver down her spine.
She *did not* belong to anyone.
Lyra forced her chin up, meeting his gaze with defiance. “I don’t belong to you. I don’t belong to *anyone*.”
Ronan didn’t blink. He simply reached out—and before she could react, metal snapped around her wrist.
Cold. Heavy. *Wolfsbane-laced iron.*
The shock was instant, burning against her skin like fire. Lyra sucked in a breath, her knees almost giving out as her wolf recoiled.
“You *bastard*—”
Ronan grabbed the chain attached to the shackle and gave a sharp *tug*, pulling her forward until she nearly crashed into him.
The heat of his body was unbearable. Overwhelming.
His voice was a low, gravelly whisper against her ear.
“Try to run again, and I won’t be so gentle next time.”
Lyra clenched her jaw, refusing to let him see how much the iron was already weakening her. Refusing to acknowledge the way her skin tingled where his breath ghosted over it.
She *hated* him.
Hated the way he stood there, towering over her like an immovable force. Hated the possessiveness in his gaze, the way he *acted* like the bond between them gave him some sort of claim over her.
Hated the part of her that wasn’t as repulsed as it *should* be.
Ronan’s golden eyes raked over her, assessing. Calculating.
Then, as if she were no more than a problem to be dealt with, he turned and yanked the chain, forcing her to follow.
“Let’s go,” he ordered.
Lyra dug her heels into the ground. “Where?”
His expression darkened. “Home.”
She *snarled* at him. “This isn’t my home.”
Ronan paused. His grip tightened on the chain, but instead of anger, something *else* flickered behind his eyes. A warning.
“We’ll see,” he murmured, voice quieter now. “But you don’t have a choice.”
And with that, he dragged her into the darkness.
