Chapter 7

1945 Words
"Master, have you really decided to stay in London?" Howard asked as he walked straight into Clyce’s office during the hospital lunch break, determined to get all his questions answered. Clyce, dressed in a white doctor’s coat, sat at his desk with a slight frown. He had already started working at another hospital, resuming his medical duties. Howard paused for a moment, surprised to see Clyce in his white coat. Though he knew Clyce was a doctor by profession, it was rare to see him dressed this way. Seeing the master in a white coat felt strange. Clyce naturally had a dark, seductive presence, almost like a reaper sent from the depths of hell. One glance at him was enough to tell anyone that he belonged to the shadows. But now, this creature of darkness was wearing pure white, as if a demon had put on an angel’s attire. The contrast between his dark aura and the pristine coat was stark and unsettling. Honestly, the white coat didn’t look bad on Clyce; it was just that his dark, ominous vibe clashed with the purity of the color. Clyce’s dark aura had always been a source of pride for the Morgan family. But no one had ever expected him to choose a profession so completely at odds with his nature—being a doctor. Despite his god-like medical skills, nothing about him seemed suitable for this career. Howard had never understood why Clyce would ignore all these contradictions and insist on becoming a doctor, a job that didn’t suit him at all. Was it really because of that woman? “I’ll probably stay in London for a while longer. This time, I plan to take her with me when I leave,” Clyce said lazily, casting a brief glance at Howard, making no attempt to hide his intentions. “Even though she’s forgotten about you?” Howard’s sharp question earned him a deathly glare from Clyce, and he quickly shut his mouth, realizing he had hit a sensitive topic. Clyce’s eyes darkened as he shot a furious look at Howard. “So what if she’s forgotten? I’ll make her remember. I traded my life for hers—she’s mine by right.” Howard’s words had struck a nerve, and Clyce’s unusually emotional reaction made it clear how much this affected him. Sensing his master’s anger, Howard wisely decided to say no more. Of course, no one would be stupid enough to add fuel to the fire in a situation like this. It was asking for trouble. “So, what’s your plan, Master?” Howard skillfully shifted the conversation. From what Howard had observed over the past few days, the girl seemed lively but kept her distance from others. She avoided getting too close to anyone. Wouldn’t Clyce’s attempts to get closer to her provoke a strong reaction? Clyce gave a faint smile, his lips curving into the familiar sneer. It seemed he knew exactly what Howard was thinking. “She won’t resist.” His mind flashed back to the amusing image of the little bat crashing into the beam. That clumsy moment probably ensured she’d never forget him now. Clyce reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet. His gaze fixated on the photo inside. The girl in the picture had a mischievous, delicate face. Her slightly parted red lips revealed sharp, white fangs, while her silver eyes sparkled with a touch of innocence. Despite her fangs, there was nothing sinister about her appearance. Instead, she looked more like a playful little sprite from a dark forest, someone who was more endearing than frightening. The picture captured Isabella during one of her hunting moments. “What’s your plan for her, Master? Most girls don’t react well when a man tries to force them into something.” Howard’s cautious tone reflected his concern, especially since Clyce had locked her up just a few days ago. “You don’t need to worry. I won’t force her.” Clyce’s lips twisted into a sly smile. He didn’t need to use force—he had other ways to make sure she stayed with him. Years ago, he had risked everything to save her life. Now it was time for her to repay him. He didn’t care if she had forgotten everything after he drank her blood—she was already his. --- The sound of the school bell rang out, filling the air. Students in white blouses and black skirts swarmed out of the school gates like a colony of ants. From above, it was quite a sight. Isabella hurriedly packed her things, just like the other students. She wanted to rush home. She had caught a terrible cold and had felt groggy all day. At that moment, her greatest wish was to rush home, take a hot bath, and curl up in her soft, comfortable bed for a good long sleep. Wait for me, my lovely bed. I’ll be home soon! Isabella thought to herself as she sniffled, her nose running from the cold. Once she had packed her bag, she slung it over her shoulder and headed toward the door. “Isabella, you can’t go out right now,” a classmate called out, rushing to the door to block her path. “Why not?” Isabella asked, looking at her friend with tired eyes, rubbing her dizzy head. “Cable from Second High is waiting for you at the school gate again. It looks like he’s made up his mind to see you today.” Her classmate quickly explained what she had seen at the entrance. “What?” Isabella’s eyes widened in disbelief. Was Cable really waiting for her at the gate? Back in her second year, she had joined an event with Second High just for fun and ended up meeting Cable there. The moment he saw her, he became completely smitten. Upon learning that she didn’t have a boyfriend, he had relentlessly pursued her ever since, swearing he wouldn’t stop until she was his. She had thought that once they were in their final year, with the pressure of university entrance exams, Cable might ease up a little. But to her dismay, he had completely ignored the stress of the exams and continued to chase after her, driving her insane. For a while, his school had been busy with mock exams, so he hadn’t shown up as often, and she had assumed he had given up. But now that their exams were over, he was back at the gate again. Oh god, will I ever get through my high school life in peace? Isabella let out a resigned sigh and returned to her seat. Guess I’ll have to sit and read for a while. Maybe if I wait long enough, Cable will finally leave. Please, God, let that annoying fly buzz off soon, Isabella thought with a pout as she began praying silently. After about half an hour, the blue sky outside gradually darkened. Isabella packed her things once again, hoping it was finally time to head home. She couldn’t wait any longer—if she stayed too late, she’d be starving. If Cable was still there, then so be it. She’d just have to deal with it. Dragging her feet, Isabella silently prayed that she wouldn’t run into Cable. “Isabella! You finally came out!” A familiar male voice rang out, shattering her hopes. Ugh… God must have caught the same cold she had, which was why He couldn’t hear her prayers today. “Hi,” she greeted him lazily, waving without any real enthusiasm as she walked past him. If he had any sense, he’d leave her alone. She hated getting into confrontations. Confrontations always left everyone looking ugly, and she hated how she looked when she lost her temper. That’s why she always avoided getting into fights with people. “Wait, Isabella, just hear me out!” Cable hurriedly chased after her. Ugh, so annoying! Why couldn’t this guy take a hint? Isabella rolled her eyes in frustration. Normally, she had the patience to deal with this kind of situation, but right now, she was feeling awful from the cold. All she wanted was to get rid of Cable so she could enjoy some peace and quiet. Damn it! If only this road belonged to her, she’d kick Cable off it and out of her sight. “Isabella, you must be under a lot of pressure now that it’s your senior year, right?” Cable broke the silence, trying to make conversation. No s**t! Senior year is nothing but pressure, Isabella thought, taking a deep breath to stop herself from snapping. “Do you need help with your schoolwork? I’m doing pretty well at Second High, so maybe I could tutor you if you’re struggling with anything,” Cable offered, clearly hoping to impress her. He had heard that Isabella was a top student, but surely there was something she needed help with. Cable’s clean-cut, handsome face beamed at her, his eyes gazing adoringly at her delicate features. Damn it! She’d had enough. Normally, people didn’t hit someone who was being friendly, but all she wanted to do now was wipe that stupid grin off his face. Her head was spinning, and she couldn’t take much more of his persistence. She was going to have to deal with this, once and for all. “Cable, can you do me a favor?” Isabella said, raising her head and staring at him seriously. She was done. She’d tried being polite, but the more she pushed him away gently, the more determined he became. It was time to set things straight. “I’m not interested in you. I don’t even want to be friends with you. Please stop trying to see me.” Her voice was firm, and she looked at him with complete honesty. Cable looked stunned, as if he hadn’t expected her to say such a thing. “Why not? If you’re uncomfortable, we could start as friends…” “I don’t want that.” She cut him off. She was tired of this. Her headache was getting worse, and she had no patience left. “I already have a boyfriend, and he’s not happy with someone constantly chasing after me. So please, stop trying.” She had to pull the “boyfriend” card. Hopefully, this would finally get him off her back. The excuse might have been cliché, but she believed it would work. Sure enough, Cable’s face turned pale. “You have a boyfriend? When did you get a boyfriend? Why didn’t I know about this?” He clearly didn’t believe her. He had been pursuing her for over a year and had never seen any other guy around her. “Do I need your permission to date someone?” she snapped, glaring at him. “But…” Cable quickly moved in front of her, as if still trying to plead his case. “Is there something you need from Isabella?” A deep male voice interrupted the conversation. Who was that? Isabella instinctively turned to see who had joined the conversation, but before she could fully turn around, she was pulled into a warm embrace. “What the—” She struggled, looking up to yell at whoever had grabbed her. And then she saw them—those incredibly familiar green eyes. It was him?! She froze, completely caught off guard by the sight of Clyce. “Who are you? Why are you holding Isabella?” Cable demanded, glaring at the foreign man with hostility. Though the man’s presence was intimidating, Cable still stood his ground.
