From the chills of shadows there is always a light to scare the darkness away.
~~~~~Raine's P.O.V
Scar smiled in the dark. Scar. I still couldn't believe it.
He was dead.
Back from the dead. Impossible.
Well not so dead now. Rev stood in front of me, protecting me. After every thing I'd done, he still stood there waiting. Cal was moving slowly and standing up. I had no idea what he was doing, all I knew was that Scar was staring at Rev and no one else,
"This won't hurt much." Scar hissed. I felt it then. A ripple in the air. A speeding breeze that hit Rev full force.
What the hell?
He staggered backwards clutching his head. Not a scream or shiver. He was frozen still grabbing at his jet black hair. It was silent in the room as Scar stared at Rev with a smile. Not even the sound of shallow breathing could be heard, like someone had turned our world on mute. I took a step forward and nudged Rev gently but he didn't move.
Time had stopped.
I saw it Rev did move only so slowly and as I stared at Scar I realised he was the same. He was reaching for a metal knife which was tucked into his belt but in slow motion, like a movie.
Crap one day I'm gonna wake up and all this will have been a dream.
It was only for a moment and in a flash of wind Cal was grabbing the knife and holding up against Scar's scabby neck and Rev was falling to the floor in a scream of agony and I was still standing there, watching in shock.
You have to do something.
And I did, I fell beside Rev who was softly whispering under his breath,
"But is he like me? I can't, can't. Oh crap it hurts." His lips were bleeding where his teeth had bit into them. Pure red against soft pink. I stared at the blood entranced,
"You wouldn't boy. You're strong, oh yeah Sir knew you were strong, but you won't betray him because he's got your family." Scar was grinning at Cal, grinning at the knife at his neck,
"Shut up! Just bleddy shut up!" Cal shouted but Scar only smiled,
"Let me go boy. I've done what I came to do for now." He frowned, "...Oh the shadow girl comes to try and protect him." Scar laughed..
Shadow girl? Was Rev right? Could Sky be alive? But in the form of a ghost?
Mad. I was going bonkers.
Scar stared at Rev and then his black eyes rested on me "...Ah the smart girl's alive. I can't wait to take you and fuc..." Cal shoved into him and Scar's eyes gleamed red,
"Don't..." Cal breathed heavly as Scar grabbed the knife from him, "...don't talk about her..." Scar laughed and the sound sent rippling chills through me,
"Aww someone else loves you b***h. I'm going to kill you all. I promise, as soon as He lets me and He will." Scar winced in silent pain, "I'm coming.." He hissed and staggered out the room. The ringing of the lock closing behind him. Silence followed. The kind of silence were no one wants to say anything because that would be admitting that things are crazy and all what's happening is totally impossible.
Expect it isn't is it?
_____'Cal pov'______
Rev laid on the floor in a heap shivering. Cal watched him and felt like doing the same. His whole body was aching as if he'd ran thirty miles with no break. His head blasted with a shivery hot and cold pain which wasn't dulling but somehow against everything he managed to hold it together. What the hell had just happened? It was like he had slowed time for a second, and it had felt like his whole body was about to turn to fire. All he'd known was he had to get that knife before Scar grabbed it and then the next thing he knew the world had slowed, apart from Raine. She had noticed. Cal threw off the shivers and stepped beside her who was kneeling beside Rev,
"Do you think he's gone again?" He asked her softly. She stared up at him with her blood tear soaked face,
"Don't you think we're all gone.? How? How can any of this happen?" She whispered. He took a seat and watched Rev's muttering lips,
"I don't know, maybe we are all mad, maybe there's no point anymore." He left the sentence hanging there and Raine frowned, confused,
"What do you mean? You mean give up? Because to be honest? I gave up a long time ago." She muttered. Cal shock his head. He'd been in here a month, not long. He'd tried to make an escape plan but failed, slowly. After visiting the 101's ground he hadn't been able to get down there again, the guards had increased and stood in every corridor. His map was half done and even if he finished it. What good would it do? No, maybe there was an easier way out,
"I mean maybe we could just end it ourselves." He mumbled not staring at her,
"Oh,"
"Maybe it would be better for us if we just died. Maybe it would save the suffering" He carried on. Raine listened to him with tears in her eyes,
"We can get out. We will". She said it but it wasn't filled with the passion, just desperation. A prey,
"It's not just about getting out. It's about everyone, we have to get everyone out. Then even if we did get out, then what? Do you think anything would or could be the same? Our bodies are changing. Rev can hear voices and you can lift up your own blood without touching it, who knows what the hell I can do!" Raine turned from Rev's muttering body and took his hand in between her warm sticky ones,
"I know. Maybe your right." She whispered and glanced at Rev, "Maybe it would be easier if we could just fade away." Cal stared at her. Stared at her round reddish blue eyes,
"But we can't..." He finished the sentence for her and she nodded,
"We have to see this through. Somehow. I have to believe that we can do these things for a reason, that we aren't just experiments who will die young or be trapped inside these four walls forever." Raine whispered and looked him in silence. He realized that their hands were still touching. Cal couldn't help himself but lean towards Raine's shocked faced and kiss her softly on the cheek. She didn't move but he pulled away flushing deeply and stood up walking to the other side of the room. Cal couldn't understand how he felt for Raine. He knew she loved Rev, could see it in her eyes but as he sat away from her in the shadows he saw Raine lift a hand and touch her cheek softly before turning back to Rev.
___"Mr Creeds"
"I trust you were gentle Marcol." Creeds's shiny black shoes clipped on the white tiles, his white coat rippling out behind him with each step. His hair was perfectly gelled back with just the right amount of wax and his pine-cone aftershave followed him,
"I was what I bleddy was." Scar snarled beside Mr Creeds. They walked down a corridor which was pure white, the ceiling was filled with shining long light bulbs scaring any shadows anyway,
"Well I need them. All three of them. I am amazed that the boy, Rev, has managed to with stand so much. He's much stronger than you." Creeds said and turned into an open door. Scar snarled,
"I'm stronger. How many people can return from the dead?" He hissed,
"Oh yes. My first living Frankenstein. "Creeds smirked, "Now leave me Marco and try not to hurt too many of the children. I really do need them all if we are to face what will surely come." Scar snarled again but left his boss alone. Mr Creeds only smiled and glanced into the room. A girl with long floor lenth hair like charcoal sat on a wooden chair. She was pretty, with soft sun-tanned skin, red juicy lips and instead of wearing black shorts and t-shirt, her body was wrapped in a long soft white robe. It was her eyes which sent shivers. They were white, like untouched snow. She was blind. The girl was older than most of the kids inside The Place. Although she seemed ageless as she stared at a wall in silence,
"Hello Sapphire." Mr Creeds said softly and walked around her. Sapphire gazed at him, following the sound of his feet clipping on the tiles, "What do you see?" He asked,
"I see flames Sir. Orange and red. All the colors which were once forgotten. I feel the burn like the sun dancing along my skin in soft folds of heat. I smell the cooking of flesh burnt in crazy wafts and I hear. I hear you Sir. I hear your screams." She whispered and smiled,
"You lie." Mr Creed snarled losing his cool for only a second. She did that too him. She made him angry. He took a breath and stared at the girl in silence. This was how he knew what happened inside The Place, because she could see it and the future in fragments. Oh but she was so much more as well Creeds thought silently, "You lie. If you feel the burns of a fire it can only be from you." He said softly. Sapphire smiled and held up a hand, along her palm a small flame appeared,
"It's amazing. What you do..." She whispered. Creeds let her continue, "...but it won't last. I see death, they're dying because of the experiments. You say you're trying to create an army but what use is that army if they are not loyal to you?." She c****d her head to the side and looked at him, "How do you plan to control them?" Mr Creeds turned away and ignored the question,
"If the flames don't come from you then who?" He asked but Sapphire smiled and closed her palm,
"Great things come to those who wait, but in the end life lives for fate." She whispered and laughed...
