chapter 5

*at Notaria*

Avalin's pov

It is midday , i am eating with my mother at her bedroom.she is eating her favorite soup and drinking tea, i on the other hand didnt feel like eating.i feel like something bad is going to happen so i just didnt touch the soup and ate some fruits on the table.my mother screamed startling me then tears were coming out of her eyes . i asked "mother whats wrong why are you crying ?"

i go to her and hug her tightly she said sobbing " your father he...he's d..dead "

i gasped "what!!??"

"i felt a sharp pain in my heart a pain you'll feel when your mate is suffering or dying .i...cant feel our bond anymore "she said

" what happened mother?" a few moments later she was gasping for breath "whats wrong ?"

"i.....i cant breathe"and thats when blood started to run down her nose , ears and mouth.when she started to choke on her own blood she was trying to tell me something but i couldnt understand it. i yelled "guards guards get the physicians quickly" the guards that went in went out immediately .my heart was racing, aching at the same time seeing my mother at this state .i know this is some kind of poison but how do i heal someone who was just poisoned .

i said "mother dont leave me please i beg of you dont leave me "sobbing "i love you so much so so much"the physicians went in carrying their medical kits and went to mother.they did everything they could but couldnt save her .they know she was poisoned but didnt know what kind of poison. they gave her all sorts of medicine and antidotes but none had save her either because it was a strong poison or she had so much in her system.

the captain of the guards and the royal guards entered the chamber and one of them said "the gate has been burned down by a dragon, the witches are in the city and a dragon is flying towards the castle"

another one said "your highness they killed them all no one survived." no no no this cant be happening i screamed in my head

the captain asked "your highness what are we going to do ?"

i said "what are the witches doing?"

"our scouts said theyre heading here being led by the dragon prince"

"wheres the demon king ?"

"our scouts said he is heading to Humaria he is flying towards the castle in humaria."

"we need to evacuate immediately ,tell all the nobles make sure everyones safe . our people are our top priority . assemble the remaining soldiers , we are not going down without a fight ."

"but your highness the dragon, how are we going to defeat it ?"

"im going to burn it."

"can it be burnt?"

"anything and anyone can be burned .i want justice for the thousands they have killed for the death of my father and mother ." a lone tear was shed "how did we lose ? "

"maybe it was because of the dragon. we are at a disadvantage because of it.what if youre not strong enough ,your highness?" the thought of them being burned alive was horrible.

"i dont know what to do . i dont know what a dragons weakness is . do any of you have an idea ? all i can think of is fire to fight fire with fire ."

a guard burst in " youre highness theyre here!!! "

"what so soon !!!!why are they so quick. go do what i told you and hold the gates"i say facing the captain and his guards .its all happening to fast , i cant believe my father and mother are dead, that she died right in front of me , that my enemies are already at the castle gates .the witches are fast like the faes but the problem is theyre only few fae soldiers left majority of them were at the battlefield we have more human soldiers.there is no point in writing a letter to my uncle,the king of humaria ,as the demon king is going to attack them and they are already here.uncle Norman ,fathers brother, is at his family estate with his entire family .while i am thinking of a way to defeat the witches and the dragon prince , a title my people gave him when he showed up with a dragon up in the skies , i was preparing myself and my magic.

i have already changed into my fighting outfit when i made my way to the castle ground where fighting and bloodshed have already occured ,it seems like the castle gates has been burned down, just as when i was going to step outside a dragon appeared right in front of me and opened its mouth out of reflex i shot through him my fire magic intending to burn him but all it did was absorbed no....stole my fire magic as i feel it slipping away and me feeling weaker and weaker. i tried to stopbut couldnt ,it wouldnt let go when there was nothing else to take ,i felt my body go weak and my fire magic gone , i tried to summon it but nothing appeared thats when i heard calore,Cal, scream my name . cal "avalin !!! Ava !!!"

i have never felt so weak and drained before, i collapsed on the ground.the last thing i saw was the dragon prince gathering me up in his arms .
