Chapter 2

*Beep* *Beep* *Beep*

I roll over in bed slowly to turn off my alarm on my phone to get up and get the day going. After putting on one of my blue crop top, jean shorts, and cowboy boots I head outside to feed our horses, and clean up the barn. As I head back to the house after my morning routine I think of how my birthday is tomorrow and I wonder how my shift is going to go I don’t have my parents to coach me threw it like I was hoping so I’m just going to have to rely on what I was told that it will be painful, long, and torturous, I shake my head out of my thoughts as I walk into the house to make Ryan breakfast. Already I hear him up in his room playing with one of his toys, I grab some food from the fridge and start making breakfast for Ryan and myself, omelets and bacon are what’s on the menu for this morning, as I dance around the kitchen making breakfast and singing Angel by Theory of a Deadman *I'm in love with an angel, heaven forbid

Finally I finish up breakfast and call up to Ryan “Ryan time to eat” I hear him shuffling around and finally come down the stairs he looks like he hadn’t slept a wink, I rush over to him and have him look up at me “what’s going on short stack?” He looks up at me with tears in his eyes and says “I just miss mom and dad...” he starts crying I pull him into my arms hold him and let him cry. My poor brother I wish there was more I could do for him I hate seeing him like this. Once he calmed down he sat down and ate breakfast slowly I finally look at him and say “Ry do you want to go to the store today maybe get something that you’ve wanted or maybe some flowers to put at the edge of the forest?” He sits there and contemplates what he wants to do. As he’s sitting there I get up to clear the plates do the dishes and clean up the kitchen. Finally he turns around and says “I think getting flowers is a really good idea Lizzy, but can we plant them instead of just normal flowers from a flower shop I think that mom would love something like that” I smile and nod at him “Okay why don’t we ride into town today sense it’s so nice,” he nods excitedly and jumps out of his seat and runs upstairs to get ready.

As Ryan was inside getting ready I ran outside to get the horses ready, once they were ready to go here comes Ryan barreling out of the house like he’s got a fire up his ass I couldn’t help but laugh at how goofy he is, finally he slows down as he is almost too me but what I wasn’t expecting was for him to jump into my arm and hold on tight to me, “thank you Lizzy I’m so grateful to have an amazing sister like you,” he jumps down and I mess his hair up then kiss him on the top of his head “Ryan you are my pride and joy I’d do anything to keep you happy and smiling” Bella in my head says does he always have to jump on us she playful growls in my head My wolf isn’t very talkative like me but she will put her two cents in every now and then I can’t wait to see what she looks like in my head I can’t really see her she says that’s cause I haven’t shifted yet but tomorrow that’s all gonna change.

Once we got into town which is only a ten minute ride from our house we tie our horses up in a pen lucky for us in our small town it’s very common for people to ride horses everywhere so they have accommodations for horseback riders, we walk into our local hardware store soon as Ryan spots the flowers he books it over to them and starts looking, while I look on my phone for ideas for certain types of flowers that could best represent our parents. Ryan and I decide to get hydrangeas, carnations, and some white roses, we think those are very fitting for our parents and everything that we have gone through. As we walk out Ryan ask “hey sis can we get a toy while we are out?” He looks at me with those puppy dog eyes and I can’t say no “fine” I say so sarcastically but start to laugh. When we walk into the store he pulls me towards the toys and grabs a new call of duty game, a skateboard, and Breyer horse toy set, I look at Ryan and say “what’s the Breyer horse for?” He looks at me shyly and says “it’s for Rieka I want her to have a toy to play with when she comes over” the look on his face was so cute I couldn’t help but aww at him. After we both got everything we needed I even got myself a little birthday present as well cause why not I deserve a little something every now and then.

Once we finally got home we got the horses settled into their pastures with food and water we went inside for a late lunch. As I’m making lunch I hear a car pull in thank the moon goddess for werewolf hearing I look outside and notice it’s Marie’s car I sigh with relief. I’m finishing up Ryan’s food as they walk towards the door I hear Ryan’s footsteps come barreling down the stairs he’s yelling “they came to visit yay!” as he runs and opens the door for them. I walk from the kitchen to the front door and greet Marie, Wilder, Rieka, and who I’m guessing is Marie’s mate who looks like an older version of wilder and Rieka looks like a replica of Marie.

So Marie is a tall blonde blue eyed tanned skin beauty queen and Rieka is a replica of her while Wilder is a replica of his dad who I’ve come to know as Alexander Octavius the whole family were carved from the Greek gods I swear.

Still being leery to keep Ryan and myself safe I don’t want to disclose to much about us or what has happened to us. I walk up to Marie and shake her hand finally properly introducing myself giving her a big smile, I turn to Alexander and shake his hand firmly he gives me a fatherly smirk then turns to Ryan to bend down to his level to introduce himself “hello son what’s your name?” Alexander asks Ryan looks up at me and I nod to him giving him that okay to say his name he turns back to Alexander “my name is Ryan sir” he says shyly, Ryan isn’t as shy as me but it’s pretty close Ryan then notices Rieka then walks up to her an says “hi I’m Ryan would you like to play?” Rieka looks at her mom Marie her mom nods giving her the okay “I would like that very much” she says in the sweetest little voice I’ve ever heard I almost aww at it but I contain it with a smile on my face, Ryan leads her up stairs to his room so he can show her his toys and give her the toy we got for her today. After those two cuties are safe upstairs I invite Wilder and his parents into my kitchen to talk with them some more as I walk in I notice Ryan’s food still sitting there so I call up to him to have him grab it so he can eat, after he’s gone back upstairs, I sit at the kitchen table with Marie, Alexander, and Wilder.

As they sit down at the kitchen table I ask “would you like anything to eat or drink while I’m up?” Marie and Alexander answer at the exact same time “water please” Wilder looks at me “do you have any sodas?” I look back at him “we do we have all kinds” I head over to the fridge to grab two waters I look back at Wilder “I’ll take a Pepsi please” he looks at me and smirks which makes me blush bright red I can feel it so I take a few extra seconds to to decide on the soda even though I only drink Pepsi, after I grab the drinks and bring out a snack platter that I decided to grab earlier while we were out at the store, as I sit down to hand everyone their drinks then set the platter down in the middle of the table. “So what brings you all over today also id like to apologize for my attire I wasn’t expecting company as I look down at my crop top I look up and notice wilder eyeing me but I don’t say anything, “sweetie this is your home not ours you are free to be comfortable in your own home so please don’t feel like you need to change to please others” Marie says I just smile and nod at her, “we came over because we got you a birthday present and I wanted to ask, would you like someone to be here tonight for when you shift I know you will be doing it alone, personally I know how hard it was for all three of us I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.” Tears brim my eyes I can’t help but feel safe around these strangers weather that be because my wolf feels comfortable or myself in general but I graciously accept her offer knowing I won’t be alone makes me feel so much better about shifting, “That would be amazing please I’ve been very stressed about shifting by myself sense I don’t have my parents I’ve been worrying nonstop about Ryan how I’m gonna take care of him after being exhausted from my shift you just lifted a weight off my shoulders knowing I won’t be alone, also I’d like to say you didn’t have to get me a birthday present” looking at them and smiling trying to hold back my tears of relief. Marie gets up and comes to my side of the table to give me a side hug at first I reciprocate cause I haven’t had a hug from an adult sense my parents disappearance but I finally relaxed and leaned into her I looked at Alexander he seemed to be contemplating something very deeply but I just shrugged it off. “Wilder will you please run out to the car and grab Lizzy’s gift” he jumps out of his seat and books it outside to the car by the time I look at Marie then back toward the door I hear the car door shut and his feet running up the stairs to the door that’s werewolf speed for you I giggle to myself, once he’s back inside he hands me a bag with horses on it and brown tissue paper inside I slowly pull out the tissue and see a beautiful leather halter with a tooled noseband that has Always Strong on it I almost cried with just that, I move on to the next gift it is rose gold spurs with my name engraved on them, and the last and final gift says from wilder I couldn’t help the smile on my face as I open up a velvet box that held a light blue opal almost white wolf howling up into a beautiful moonstone it took my breath away, “thank you so much for all these beautiful gifts I can’t thank you enough” I start to cry and Marie rushes over to me and holds me as I cry “I’m sorry” I sob “I haven’t had a birthday present in a few years besides the ones Ryan gets me which I am beyond thankful for but just thank you” I take a deep breath and stop the water works I didn’t even realize that wilder had grabbed my hand he was rubbing circles on my hand with his thumb it felt so good it calmed me right down I didn’t want him to let go but he reluctantly did. Once I had calmed down completely and thanked everyone they got up to leave by the time everything was done it was seven and both wilder, and Marie promised to come back at eleven thirty to be there for my shift.

After they all leave I make dinner for Ryan and myself to prepare for my shift, for dinner tonight it is my favorite homemade nachos best thing ever Ryan can’t get enough of them. After dinner it is eight thirty it’s time to just relax an prepare my mind, body, and soul for my shift as well as say a silent prayer to the moon goddess “Goddess can you please look after me tonight I know I say a prayer to you every now and then but I need to start saying it more even with my challenges you’ve given us a beautiful life thank you moon goddess for all that you do.”
