Chapter Fourteen - Company

2207 Words
Clara sank to her bed after a wonderful, warm bath last night and didn't realize she had fallen asleep before Tristan could even arrive from his study room.   The rays of the sunlight that’s creeping inside of their room uninvited woke her up like an alarm as she idly raised her body with her eyes closed.   She yawned and scratched the back of her hair as she lazily glanced around her surroundings, “Good morning wife,”    Clara flinched after hearing that familiar voice, she slowly looked around to find where it came from and spotted Tristan who greeted her with a smile as he placed a breakfast tray right in front of her.   “Breakfast in bed for my beautiful wife,” Tristan beamed before giving her some flowers. Clara was so surprised that she didn’t know how to react.   “O-Oh thank you, you shouldn't have bothered, I could’ve made it,” Clara sincerely said, but Tristan just shook his head.   “It’s alright, you were still sleeping soundly,” he manly chuckled, so Clara blushed because of embarrassment.   Clara stared at her husband that’s already changing into his formal attire. She almost forgot that she just found out yesterday that her husband is the youngest billionaire in the world and country.   But here he was, serving her some breakfast like some princess, “Tristan,” Clara raised her voice enough for Tristan to hear.   “Yes wife?” he replied before looking at her as he was busy choosing his coat, “A-Are you that Tristan Jay Zaveri that I’m seeing in the magazines?” she nervously asked, which made Tristan stop.   He then glanced at his wife while tilting his head, “Yes wife, but in what kind of magazine exactly? There’s too many that I couldn't count or remember where I was published,” he looked puzzled while he was stating those words, so Clara just shook her head.   “Oh my God,” she gasped like she was running out of air, she still couldn’t believe she troubled a billionaire, “I'm so sorry if I bothered you,” Clara became agitated, which perplexed Tristan.   “What do you mean wife? You didn’t bother me or anything,” Tristan gazed at her before casually wearing his coat properly.   “I mean, you must have a girlfriend or something before I asked you to marry me, right?” Clara claimed while staring at the breakfast Tristan made for her. Tristan then stopped before bitterly smiling at her, “No wife, I don’t have that kind of thing,” he then turned his back and paced out of their room.   “I’ll be waiting for you downstairs,” Tristan gently closed the door, Clara felt like she shouldn’t have said something about it.   Tristan’s mood changed just by her mentioning the word girlfriend, does this mean that he really had one? Or he was just recently in a heartbreak?   Clara just sighed because of the questions that were lingering on her mind, she gazed at the breakfast that was prepared for her before smiling.   There was a red rose on the side, rice, omelet, special sausages, and buttered corn on the white porcelain plate, and hot chocolate on the top left, which made her smile.   Clara has never encountered anything like this before, and she is completely overwhelmed by what is going on right now.   She then decided to eat, moaning in delight when she tasted such a fine taste of a cooked omelet, “Wow, this taste much better than what I normally cooked,”    Clara hurried into the bathroom after eating and washed herself up, remembering that they were heading to the company today, she thought about what she should need to wear.   She dried her hair off and checked her bag to see if she had any decent casual clothes appropriate for the place that they’re going to.   Clara just sighed after she got a hold of a turtle neck long sleeve black dress that’s length is almost above the knee, “I guess this should do the trick,” she claimed before slipping into that dress while fixing her hair.   She didn't bother to fix her look; all she did was color her lips and trim her brows, “There, all done,” she beamed before grabbing a white sling bag to put her phone over there.   Clara immediately descended downstairs because she didn’t want to let her husband wait for too long for she thought he was in a bad mood.   “Oh! Good morning, Ms. Clara, you're looking stunning today, but of course, my handsomeness is equal to yours, so I believe we're a perfect match,” Clara giggled after looking at Raven who’s just waiting for her to get downstairs.   Clara thought she heard a rifle click, but she's very sure she misheard it; who would own a gun here? She pondered.   Julian Luke slapped Raven Leviticus on the head, “Shut up if you don't want us to come to your funeral later tonight,” “Wife, that's too short, put this on,” Tristan then appeared in front of her and handed her a brown, elegant coat that covered the rest of her body.   “T-Thanks,” Clara looked at her husband, who was helping her put on the coat with a plain expression on his face.   “Are you alright, Tristan?” Clara worriedly asked, so Tristan just planted a plain gaze at her before nodding.   “I am alright wife, why wouldn’t I be?” Tristan firmly remarked, so Clara tilted her head for a moment.   “Are you sure you’re not bothered that I mentioned the word girlfriend a while ago?” Clara blurted out, she didn’t notice that she pipe down everyone inside of that room.   Raven Leviticus choked on his own saliva, Julian Luke whistled gently to the side while Genesis stood motionless near the door.   Tristan immediately glared at those three, one look, and all of the boys immediately got what he meant to say. They better head out before he decides to pull out some gun and shoot it at them.   “O-Ompf! I almost forgot I have to check the car,” Julian Luke reasoned out before whistling as he left the main house.   “Oh, I forgot, I have to feed the cat on the back,” Raven Leviticus beamed before sprinting away, Genesis just went out of the main door.   Clara wondered for a moment, she wasn’t informed that there’s a cat in the back of their house, she likes cats.   She was about to come with Raven when Tristan grabbed her hands, “Wife, about what you said,” Tristan sighed while caressing her hands.   “Like I said, I wasn’t worried about it, I truly don’t have any girlfriend,” Tristan smiled at Clara, so she tilted her head at him.   “Why do you look upset when I mentioned that?” Clara curiously asked, if there’s one thing that Clara should boast, is that she’s inquisitive to specific people that she’s comfortable being with.   Tristan stared at his wife intently before blowing some air out of his mouth, “I just came from a break up before I met you,” he admitted before grabbing his wife outside of the house.   “S-So you mean to say, you just came from a heartbreak after we got married?” Clara worriedly asked, biting her lower lip, afraid that he might annoy her husband because of her numerous questions. “Yes wife, we’ve been together for a year,” Tristan coldly shared before sighing as he stared at his wife, “But we broke up the day we met,” he added, so Clara’s eyes widened.   “But do not worry, my heart already belongs to you now,” Tristan reassured while gripping her hands.   Clara wondered for a moment because she’s not worried about it, she’s worried if she’ll step over some boundaries since she was just a stranger who came into his life, Tristan is a famous man who is also a stranger to her too.   Plus, who would move on that quickly after a year of relationship? He must be in pain, Clara thought.   She also thought about how strange her husband is, maybe she should start getting to know him better now that they’re still married and live in the same house.   “It’s alright, I understand,” Clara reassured her husband as she beamed at him, “I just have to start getting to know you well now that you're my husband for who knows how many months or days,”   Tristan was caught off guard by what his wife was saying, he just shook his head and fished out the key of his car.   “For now, let’s go to our company first,” Tristan finally composed himself as he opened the passenger seat door for his wife.   “Our...company?” Clara raised her eyebrows at his statement, she didn’t remember herself owning a company.   “Yes, our company, what’s mine is yours because we’re married right?” Tristan winked before buckling the seatbelts of his wife.   Clara was caught off guard as she gasped because they were too close to each other. She smelled the manly scent of her husband that would attract much attention if he strode on some hallway.   “Are you alright, wife?” Tristan worriedly asked after he distanced himself with his wife, “You're turning red,”    Clara shook her head before smiling, “I-I’m fine, just a little bit new to this car that’s all,” she lied, too embarrassed to admit that his scent appealed to her.   “I see, don’t worry, you’ll get used to it soon,” Tristan reassured her before gently closing the door as he walked around to open the door of the driver’s seat.   Clara just sighed in relief before she decided to relax. Their ride took smoothly as Tristan parked right in front of a huge company located on the other side of their city.   Clara gazed outside and she couldn’t help but appreciate the very fine features of the company as well as the interior design of it.   “The engineers and architects must’ve put a lot of effort into making this building appear impressive,” Clara complimented politely, Tristan chuckled on her side so she curiously glanced at him, confused at why he suddenly laughed at her statement.   “Well, I’ll take that as a compliment wife, I’m the engineer and architect myself into building this place,” he winked, so Clara's eyes widened.   Tristan turned off the engine of his car and went out to walk around and open the door for his wife on the other side, “Are you that surprised?” Tristan grinned when he noticed his wife’s eyes were still widened.   “You must be so smart,” she gasped,  Tristan warmly laughed at what she said. He thought his wife was amusing.   “Not as clever as you in cooking wife, now let’s go, we have a meeting with the board today,” he informed, so Clara was astounded.   “M-Meeting? You didn’t say that a while ago, if you did I should’ve come prepared,” Clara panicked.   Tristan shook his head and grabbed his wife out of his car, “Don’t worry, you don’t have to say anything wife, and just be there beside me,”    Clara felt anxious for a moment, but she just let herself be dragged away from Tristan’s hold. The cold mist and air greeted her after they entered the company.   “Good morning, Mr. Zaveri,”    “Good morning, Sir Tristan,”   “Good morning, Sir,”    “Good morning, Sir, have a great day,”   A lot of men and women in formal suits greeted Tristan, but he didn’t bother greeting them as he continued facing forward.   “Good morning to everyone as well!” Clara greeted those poor employees who are still keeping their heads down. Clara thought her husband was rude because he’s not greeting them even though they're polite enough to approach and acknowledge his presence. She glanced at her husband, who’s staring blankly at the elevator that they’re going to ride towards the conference room.   “You should’ve greeted them,” Clara stated the obvious, but Tristan just glanced at her with a smile.   “I don’t have to, wife, it’s better to keep distance with your employees,” Tristan claimed, so Clara just frowned.   Despite the fact that those husband and wife are busy talking with each other, there are a few crowds that we’re curious about the woman that their boss is with.   “Who is that?” one of them whispered, “I have no idea,” one of them casually answered while watching those two from a distance.   “They seemed close but we’ve never seen her before,” someone butted in, so they agreed with him.   “How about Mr. Zaveri’s fiancee? Ms. Andrea? Aren’t they going to be married soon?” Rumors and gossip have infiltrated the Zaveri company, which Clara will eventually discover soon.   To be continued…
