13. Paul and Sophie are in bed. Sophie has turned away from Paul but he’s trying to massage her back lightly, trying to get her in the mood even if he’s not in the mood. His mouth aches, even after he brushed his teeth, after he gargled with Listerine (which burned horribly) and flossed out some wax and skin. Sophie can’t stop thinking about tomorrow. She just fed Rebecca with some frozen breast milk and now she thinks about how Rebecca will be up crying by six – if she’s lucky. Maybe by five. She will need to feed again, to have another frozen bag heated up, and then she will cry some more and burp and need a diaper change and Sophie will need to pump out all the wine in her breast milk for the day and dump it down the sink.
