Allan stands completely still in Paul and Sophie’s lit up backyard. A raccoon is circling his feet, smelling him.
He’s completely forgotten about seeing Sophie n***d.
“Away,” he growls. He kicks.
The raccoon hisses.
Allan wonders if rabies shots are part of the regular immunizations. He’s not sure. He wonders if his kid has had a rabies shot? She gets her immunizations all the time, it seems. Seems every time he has something important to do at work he’s taking her to the doctor for a shot. Hours in the waiting room with kids climbing all over him and the chairs. And then holding Katherine down while a doctor shoots her up and makes her cry. Pacing all night, terrified that deadly fever will strike her down.
