Two Months Later
“Noah, relax.” Ness rolls her eyes at me as she carries in a whole trunk worth of groceries.
I grab the bags as soon as I can, ignoring the fact that my hands are already full. Jensen jumps up and takes more until Ness is left with one bag. She shakes her head at us. “I’m not broken, guys.”
Jensen’s been quieter since his birthday. Not that I can blame the kid. Happiest day of his life, surrounded by friends and family, then ruined in a flash. Even though Ness is right in front of me, tangible, walking, alive, I can’t help but think of when we’d seen her.
