“A decade? Are you f*****g kidding me?" Threus' voice trembled with disbelief as he stared at the healer. "
Sergio sighed. "Alpha Threus, the potion she has taken was too dangerous. A decade is the least that we can expect before she wakes up."
"You must be mistaken. I’m not f*****g buying that."
"I’m sorry, Alpha, if this brings you frustration, but this is just based on my observation of Morgana’s health."
"We should repeat it. You must have missed something," Threus insisted.
"I’ve already measured the temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and other vital signs of Luna Morgana to detect any irregularities. Each concludes the same result. The healing process of Morgana would take at least ten years."
Threus struggled to process the healer’s words. Even after Sergio left, he still couldn’t find the strength to comprehend it.
"I love you, Morgana. Please, come back to me, baby. I miss you so much," he whispered, holding her cold hand. He sighed and kissed her forehead before leaving.
As he stepped out, Threus received a message from Seraphine, saying that she would visit her friend and wouldn't be able to come home tonight. His lips pressed into a grim line, annoyed at what he had just read. He immediately called her.
"Where are you? When did I even allow you to visit whoever the hell that is?" he hissed.
"Why are you forbidding me from seeing my friend? I’ve known Gregory since childhood, Threus. He’s a nice guy."
He shouldn't care, but the thought that her friend was a guy made him want to get her and chain her in his bed.
"A guy? Are you f*****g serious right now, Seraphine? Go home now before I get you there myself."
She sighed. "Okay. I’m going home now. I’m sorry..." she whispered.
But he wasn’t satisfied. What if that guy was Seraphine’s first love? What if they f****d? No. He was her first. He took her virginity. He was the only man she had let touch her body, and he would make sure it stayed that way.
He ended the call without a word, but just a few seconds later, his phone rang. It was Aldric, his beta.
"Aldric..."
"Alpha, there’s something you need to know." His voice was full of tension. "A woman named Andreda is looking for you. She’s with a young boy. She’s claiming that the kid is your son."
Threus stopped breathing, trying to process those words. "What did you say?"
"She’s here right now. She wants to see you, Alpha."
His heart pounded as he struggled to grasp the weight of Aldric's words. He ended the call and went out to see for himself what was going on outside.
"Where is she?" His voice betrayed his unease, though he tried to maintain composure.
"In the main hall," Aldric replied quietly, his eyes avoiding Threus’.
Taking a deep breath, Threus nodded once, steeling himself for whatever lay ahead.
As they made their way through the corridors, his mind raced. Andreda, a name from his past he thought he’d left behind.
Entering the hall, he saw her immediately. She was standing by the grand staircase, a little boy clutching her hand. Her gaze locked onto his, and he saw a mixture of determination and vulnerability in her eyes.
"Andreda," he said evenly, his voice carrying across the room.
"Alpha." Her tone was equally measured. "We need to talk."
Threus glanced at the little boy. Immediately, he saw their resemblance. It was uncanny.
"Who is he?" he asked in a controlled voice.
"This is Theo. Our son."
"How did this happen? Why didn’t you tell me earlier that you were pregnant?"
"I was about to! But Morgana threatened to kill me if I told you about our child. I was forced to run away and hide Theo because I know how powerful Morgana is."
"Morgana knew?" he whispered.
"Yes! She even threatened to kill our son."
"How can I be sure that he’s my son?" he gritted his teeth.
"He’s your son, Alpha! You can run a million DNA tests or whatever kind of test you want! I’m telling the truth. Theo will save us. He’s the answer!"
Seraphine…
Her name echoed in his head.
"You’re too late, Andreda. I have found the woman who will bear my heir."
"I know..." she sobbed. "Things were complicated on my part. I will tell you everything at the right time."
"I already married the perfect bearer of my heir, Andreda. She might be pregnant by now."
"She might be pregnant by now but can you train the infant as soon as she gives birth? No! You still have to wait for several years before you can start the training, but our son is already at the perfect age to start his training, Alpha. He’s ten years old! He can even start today!"
Threus didn't know what to feel. He should be happy and relieved to know that all this time, he had a son. This was the solution to his problem. It was right here already, but why did he feel like his throat was burning?
"We should run a DNA test first," he demanded.
"Go ahead. I’m not scared, Alpha. I know the truth. And this boy, your son right here, is the truth." Andreda's voice was filled with confidence.
"Aldric..." Threus called his beta.
"Yes, Alpha."
"Is it possible to deliver DNA test results faster?"
"Yes. It will only take three days, Alpha."
While waiting for the result, Threus let Andreda and Theo stay in his mansion.
As he pondered the situation, he couldn't help but feel the weight of uncertainty pressing on him. He hoped things would get better. But as he thought about Seraphine, he couldn’t help but feel his chest burning. He wasn’t sure how Seraphine would accept this situation, but why is he worried about what she would feel about this?
Seraphine didn’t expect what was waiting for her as she returned home. She was startled to find a woman sitting on the bed, in their room.
"Who are you?" she whispered, her voice filled with confusion.
Andreda stood up, smirking. "I’m the mother of Threus’ heir."
"What do you mean? Where’s Threus? Does he know you’re here in our room? Why are you here?”
"You heard me. Threus and I have a child. He’s gonna marry me. And you? You have no place here anymore. Take yourself out of this place immediately."
"Seraphine..." Threus's voice made her turn around. His face was unreadable.
"What’s the meaning of this? Who’s this woman, Threus?"
"She’s Theo’s mother. Andreda. The boy could be my son.” His voice was as cold as ice.
Her lips parted. "What? Son? H-How come? I don’t understand."
"They will live here while we’re waiting for the DNA results."
Seraphine wanted to ask a lot of things, but she couldn’t find her voice.
The woman, Andreda, smirked triumphantly. "This is gonna be my room from now on."
"But this is my room," Seraphine exclaimed.
Andreda raised a brow. "Threus told me that. I’ll stay here with him. And you..." The woman smiled sympathetically, but it was clear she was being sarcastic. "You’re no longer needed here."
"If Theo is really mine, then I need to marry her, Seraphine..."
"Then what about me?" Seraphine's voice broke.
Andreda laughed sarcastically. "You’re gonna have to leave this place, as simple as that. Why? Do you think you still have a place here? I was a bit late. But it’s better to be late than never, right?"
"No one is leaving this place." Threus' voice thundered.
"What? But I’m gonna be your wife, Threus. She should leave!"
"Enough, Andreda. Seraphine is staying,” Threus said as his eyes remained on Seraphine.
Seraphine was scared. What if Theo was really Threus’ son? What would happen to her? Every night, she prayed that the result would be negative, but she was wrong.
The room fell silent while everyone waited for Threus' reaction as he read the result.
He took a deep breath and announced, "It’s positive..." he whispered.
Threus' gaze flickered between Seraphine and Andreda. The weight of his responsibilities and the complicated emotions swirling within him felt like a heavy burden on his chest. The path ahead was unclear, but one thing was certain… nothing would ever be the same again.
Andreda smirked triumphantly at Seraphine before turning to Threus. "I told you, Alpha. The truth cannot be denied."
"What do you want?" Threus asked in a quiet voice.
"Simple. I want him to be recognized as your heir. He deserves his rightful place. We have to get married as soon as possible. I know that your heir won’t be recognized as the savior if you’re not married to the bearer. The woman you married, she’s no longer needed here."
