Chapter 3

“Have some decency, Seraphine…” Andreda stood at the door while Seraphine was fixing her bed, ready to rest. Threus left this morning to attend to some important matter in the neighboring town. She can’t wait for him to come home as she has a big announcement to make for him. “If I were you, I’d leave after finding out that I’m no longer needed here to save face. But you…” Andreda’s eyes turned into slits. “You still have the guts to stay even though you can see it in your own eyes that you’re useless for Threus.” Seraphine pressed her lips into a thin line, straightened her back, and heaved a deep sigh. “Threus is the one who said I should stay.” “That doesn’t matter. You really think you deserve to be here? May I remind you, Threus and I will get married tomorrow. Your marriage is already void, Seraphine. You’re basically… a mistress now.” Disbelief coursed through Seraphine, leaving her numb and rooted to the spot. Andreda smirked, seeing her reaction. “Look at yourself. You look stupid.” Andreda’s smirk vanished when her eyes caught something. Seraphine’s heart stopped when she realized Andreda had noticed the three sticks on the bedside table. She picked it up and stared at it with horror all over her face. “No. Y-you’re pregnant…” Andreda whispered weakly. “When did you take these?” “T-this morning. I will tell Threus once he’s home,” Seraphine said with determination. “No! You can’t do that!” Andreda grabbed her arm, gripping it tightly. “I won’t let you! That child is an abomination! Theo is the real heir!” Seraphine yanked her arm away, glaring at Andreda with a mix of anger and disbelief. “How dare you? This child is just as much a part of this family as Theo.” Andreda shook her head, her face pale and frantic. “I don’t care, Seraphine! Theo is the only heir! I won’t let you and that child have a place in Threus’ life!” “Enough! I won’t let you dictate my life or the life of my child. Threus deserves to know the truth, and I will tell him. Whether you like it or not.” Andreda’s eyes narrowed, fury brewing beneath her fear. “You will regret this. You have no idea what you’ve started.” “What are you gonna do, huh? You can’t stop me!” Seraphine yelled. Andreda smirked. “You wanna know what I’m gonna do?” Seraphine’s face paled when she saw Andreda pull out a syringe from her pocket. “I’m gonna make sure your child won’t see the world.” With a trembling hand, Seraphine pushed Andreda and ran towards the door, but Andreda was too fast. Seraphine groaned in pain when Andreda pulled her hair from the back. Andreda wrapped her arm around Seraphine’s neck and pressed the syringe against her neck. Seraphine held her breath, scared for her baby’s safety. “How lucky I am, huh? You’re not as powerful as Morgana. I can kill you with my bare hands.” “Please, no…” Seraphine whispered, trembling. “You’re gonna regret being in Threus' life,” Andreda growled in her ears. Adrenda’s grip tightened as her vision blurred. The pain in her neck was searing, every nerve screaming in agony. Seraphine’s knees buckled, and she sank to the ground, her body trembling uncontrollably. “Did you really think you could take my place?” Adrenda spat, her voice dripping with venom. “You’re nothing but a weak, pathetic substitute.” Seraphine’s breath came in ragged gasps, her strength ebbing away. Desperation clawed at her as she tried to summon the will to fight back, but her limbs felt heavy, unresponsive. Adrenda loomed over her, a cruel smile playing on her lips. “You should have stayed away, little omega. Now you’ll pay the price for your foolishness.” Seraphine’s vision darkened. Her last thought was of Threus, and the hope that somehow, he would save her from this nightmare. But as consciousness slipped away, that hope dimmed, leaving only the terrifying reality of her helplessness. “What’s the meaning of this?!” Seraphine was too confused to even process what was happening when she woke up. But when her eyes went to Alpha Threus, her world stopped. She gasped, pulling the covers up to her chest, her eyes wide with fear. The man who was beside her caught her attention, only for her to gasp loudly when she recognized Beta Aldric. He was… also naked. Aldric, Threus’ beta, scrambled to his feet, his face a mask of guilt and panic. “Alpha, I-I don’t know what happened—” Aldric began, but the words died in his throat as he saw the murderous rage in Threus’ eyes. “You don’t know?” Threus roared, his voice shaking the room. “You don’t f*****g know how you betrayed me, how you crawled into my bed with my wife?” His fists clenched at his sides, the muscles in his arms bulging with barely contained fury. “Alpha, please,” Seraphine pleaded, tears streaming down her face. “How could you, Seraphine? How long have you been f*****g him, huh?” Threus’ voice dropped to a deadly whisper. He took a step forward. Every heartbeat felt like a dagger twisting in his chest. “No, please. I don’t even know what happened. I don’t remember anything!” She gasped when Threus pulled her hair violently. “I’m gonna f*****g kill both of you…” he roared. Seraphine sobbed painfully as she shook her head. “Please, let me explain, Threus. I don’t know why I’m here. I could never do this to you—“ Threus’ hand lashed out before she could finish. The sound of the slap echoing through the room like a gunshot. Seraphine’s head snapped to the side, trembling miserably. Threus’ towering presence made Aldric back up against the wall. “I trusted you, Aldric. You were my beta. How could you f**k my wife behind my back while acting like a loyal dog, huh?” “Alpha, I never meant to betray you,” Aldric stammered, his eyes darting to the door, looking for an escape. “Believe me, Alpha, something’s wrong. I don’t remember anything last night. I will never bring Seraphine here in my room. I could never do this to you.” “Enough!” Threus’ roar was deafening, the primal fury of his wolf breaking free. He lunged at Aldric, his hands wrapping around his beta’s throat. Aldric struggled, his hands clawing at Threus’ arms, but the Alpha’s strength was overwhelming. Seraphine screamed, but her cries were drowned out by the sound of Aldric’s desperate gasps for air. Threus’ eyes were wild, his grip unrelenting as he squeezed the life out of the man who had betrayed him. With a final, guttural snarl, Threus felt Aldric’s body go limp. He let go, watching as his beta crumpled to the floor, lifeless. The room was silent except for Seraphine’s sobs. Threus turned to her, his eyes still blazing with anger. “You are no longer my wife. Take this woman to the dungeon! People who betray me must be punished…”
