Rafael's POV: I found myself at a loss. Desperation gripped me as I called her name and shook her, but there was no response. Panicking, I yelled over the mind link, "Bryan, get the f*****g doctor!" Soon I heard a knock on the door, which I quickly opened. "Please come inside." He was human, so I welcomed him. He dashed over to Astrid, who was sleeping on the bed. He maintained a hand near her nose and checked her pulses. "Mr. Delmar, I'm not sure how to explain it, but she appears to be still alive, even if we can't detect any breathing, and her pulse is still functioning, albeit faintly. We're not sure how much time we have with her." The doctor and his comments were as sharp as a sword. "What the hell are you saying she can't leave me? Not after we've come this far; you're lying. B
