3 “Gear up,” Jayde said to Lochlan as he stepped into the ship. She had been waiting for him to get back so they could meet Luther and catch a ride with him to the mines. She and the other two, McCready and Gavin, had changed into their battle armor already. It resembled wet suits used for diving in that it was thin and versatile, but it was strong enough to take a direct hit from a laser. “For what?” Loch asked. “I found us a quick gig to make some cash. We’re going into one of the mines to clear out some lyscrens. It shouldn’t take more than a few hours.” “You’re good,” Loch said with a hint of surprise. “But I’m better. I sold the pendant for a nice price.” “How much?” Jayde asked. “Enough to get a new engine. It’s being delivered within the next thirty minutes.” Jayde suppresse
