Jayde’s instincts kicked in and she lowered the fueling station as fast as it would go.
The girl seemed oblivious to the danger. As soon as the lift touched the ground, Jayde leaped over the railing and ran towards the girl, drawing her pistol from its holster. The expression on the girl’s face turned from confusion to fear.
“Get down!” Jayde shouted at her.
She didn’t listen. Jayde was forced to shoot a sleeper who was perilously close to the girl and thankfully didn’t miss the shot. The young girl seemed to have an epiphany and dropped to her hands and knees and began crawling across the dirt towards Jayde.
