The transport tunnel was unlike anything Jayde had seen before. It looked like a long elevator shaft that had been turned sideways and stretched from the moon to the planet Dreteron. It was a wonder of technology, and Jayde couldn’t help but wonder how in the universe the Thraan had built it.
“Ever seen one of those?” she asked McCready with a nod at the tunnel.
“I’ve seen a lot of things in my time, but nothing that impressive. If the Convocation has the same technology, they’ve kept it well hidden.”
The three of them were hiding behind a wall of metal shipping crates, waiting until they were sure that no one was around. After about ten minutes, Jayde walked out into the open cautiously, her rifle at the ready. The place was silent.
“It’s clear,” she called out.
