Chapter 18After a brief bout of stumbling and bumbling like Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated characters pursuing a ghostly villain against better judgment, Linda scurried up rough topography to contact 911. Not one of us had thought to remove cell phones from jeans or bags and bring them along on the hike, but then who ever imagined they’d come across a dead body or be in an emergency situation while on a casual jaunt? So much for following the Girl Scout motto “be prepared”. Although, to be fair, Linda did leave her teeny digital camera with us; thank goodness for foresight (even if Linda’s tucking the device into her lumbar pack had been a mechanical motion).
